Gen Z is done with both political parties | America, Actually It’s clear that the youngest generation of voters isn’t the same as the ones that came before. So, what’s up with the kids? Gen Z researcher Rachel Janfaza joins Vox’s Astead Herndon to discuss how young voters are prioritizing economic survival, confronting their anxieties related to AI-job displacement, and searching for pragmatic, transparent leaders who address their everyday challenges. 00:00 Astead’s love-hate relationship with Gen Z 05:04 The theory of two Gen Z’s 06:19 How the pandemic broke Gen Z 09:48 Growing up with a phone in one hand 16:15 Rejection of the algorithm 17:56 The drivers of economic anxiety 22:08 AI and the future of work 25:25 The gender divide, explained 31:43 Hope for a post-Trump politics 32:51 Takeaways Sources and further reading: The Up and Up: www.theupandup.us/

I can host some people again, who need somewhere to tent for up to 2 weeks at a time, starting in September. No longterm stays though. Only short term, emergency or hunting for more permanent housing is OK. We are in South Saanich area & close to all amenities & hospital is nearby too. #BeTheChange #Grassroots #CommunitySupport #HelpTheHomeless #DirectAction #LiveByYourValues #Humanitarians #HelpWhenYouCan #CitizensCreateChange #Homelessness #HelpBeforeJudging

The July newsletter for paid subscribers is going to be an introduction to going zero-waste: what that means, some considerations for doing it, and why you want to keep food out of the landfill. Now, none of this seems very groundbreaking, perhaps, but I'm going to get into some of the deeper considerations of not just "what" to compost, but how to even go further and truly utilize everything to fill further needs in your own environment. As always, we're going to take our specific experience as a case study and offer some considerations for what might work even better for *you* in your specific situation. We're lucky enough to have had a significant amount of support come through from all of you, and to be steadily building some potential income streams here. However, we are no longer operating with a corporate job at all, so newsletter subscriptions, direct sales of our products, and tattoo bookings *are* what's keeping us going right now. So if you have $5, consider bumping up your free subscription to a paid one and helping us maintain an almost completely closed-loop farm and continue educating folks in a resource-stressed region how to better utilize resources and give back to the land while feeding themselves and surviving our harsh climate. This *is* the work that needs to be done right now. I look forward to getting this one out for you all! And thank you very much for your continued support. #ClimateChange #ClimateJustice #CommunitySovereignty #Sovereignty #AntiFascist #Grassroots #FoodSecurity #Sustainability #ZeroWaste

https://larssona.substack.com/p/snatching-victory-from-the-jaws-of (defeat) 'Going back to our roots 'I am very lucky to have played a small part in a successful people-powered resistance movement, and it has informed my thinking as a campaigner ever since. 'In #Aotearoa New Zealand, the current right-wing government reversed our country’s historic ban on offshore #oil and #gas #exploration shortly after coming to power. They even went so far as to introduce fresh #subsidies to lure #fossil fuel giants back to New Zealand waters. 'And do you know how many oil giants have packed their bags and rushed back to drill? 'Zero. 'Why? Because the #grassroots and #Indigenous-led #resistance that won the political ban in the first place didn’t just change the law - they changed the culture. They created a permanent, hostile #risk profile. Oil companies now look at New Zealand and realise their social license is completely dead. The financial and reputational risk of fighting an organised public is simply too high. 'So, while #politicians give the #industry a green light, the people block the path.'

Major UK music festival cancelled for 2026. Organisers of Wide Awake, held at Brockwell Park in south London, have axed the event for 2026. It comes after a successful legal challenge in the High Court in 2025 against the local council by a residents’ group, Protect Brockwell Park (PBP), which had opposed the events. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/major-uk-music-festival-cancelled-33448726 #music #musicians #grassroots #festival
