Can't believe there's an offficial sequel to Head over Heels now 😍 The original was one of my most-played CPC games.

Happy Amstrad CPC 464 Press Launch Anniversary to all those who celebrate.
It's been a while since I went to the cinema but we're all booked to see Project Hail Mary later. Taking the kids (10, 12) as an experiment to see how they handle a movie not ostensibly aimed at kids.

@rozeboosje @Patrickoldhiker @drikanis @ludicity I'm seeing this comment a lot (and I would feel the same were I closer to retirement). LLMs are pushing knowledge and experience out of the workforce and replacing it with vibes.
The RAM shortage is making MacBook Pro RAM upgrade pricing look almost reasonable.

Me: Working on adding expansion disk support to this game and I'm going insane. Three bit-identical disk images give different but consistent errors.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social A couple of PCs, some drives, a UPS, soldering gear, Lego, old notebooks and dust.
Pretty much decided I’m not buying another Mac after one being my primary machine since 2013.
ThinkPad T16 when the Gen 5 / Panther Lake models come out will get a serious look.
I wasn’t enthused about Starfleet Academy as a concept, and the first couple of episodes were hard going, but it really picked up after that with some very good episodes (especially that cliffhanger in 9) and I’m looking forward to S2 now.
Heck, I’m even warming to the C32 ship designs now.

I did something similar (but smaller!) about a year ago: https://s73.girv.in/glog/2025/2025-04-22-retrodev-delve-1.html
RE: Amiga. vbcc is easy to set up, but the code is kind of slow compared to the gccs. That's not an issue for everyone of course :)
This is a good, one-stop-stop for Amiga C/asm, with vscode and gcc:

@devlin@topspicy.social @janbeta@chaos.social Before I packed my CPC away in 1991 or so, I transferred all my tape games to IIRC six 3.5” floppies and put loader menus on them. I have the images of those I think.

@devlin@topspicy.social @janbeta@chaos.social heh, that takes me back. I did a few of those.

@devlin@topspicy.social @janbeta@chaos.social They’d be lost now, sorry. There were also tools that automated a lot of games, like Bonzo Super Meddler. I have that somewhere.

@dangoodin@infosec.exchange @mrsbeanbag@ieji.de It’s fitting that a copyright protection tool is being used to defend against GenAI.

@craiggrannell@mastodon.social LG has been the final straw that’s pushed me to Linux. Unless something radically changes, a ThinkPad will be replacing my (Sequoia) Intel MBP after 13 years on macOS.

@petrillic@hachyderm.io Them believe the LLMs will continue to improve so in the future you don’t need senior engineers any more either, only sloperators.

@stuart@sozial.cyberpunk.gmbh It's great they are rushing it through too, nothing will go wrong.

@midwan@mastodon.social Is there a scanned manual available for the version of DOpus you started from? I found some, but I don't think they are for the Magellan II version.
