@goTo_devNull@mastodon.social Oh yes, a language not used is lost sooner or later. Even if it your mother tongue BTW.
It is not meant to sound snarky, but: Did all that effort, engagement and business pay off (not talking about money) in the end? I think I know the answer. Your handle speaks volumes to me. Been there, done that. My devNull is a crowded place. Different game and playground though.
Na gut, dann setzen wir das mal auf Deutsch fort. :-) (Keep on breathing, just kidding.)
I had a friend from the states, Michael Lalande, on DeviantArt (still a great place for anime BTW, I believe). He was married to a japanese woman in Tokyo. Kids too. Unfortunately he was killed in a traffic accident - as pedestrian IIRC. Very sad.*
I have a soft spot for "The Japanese Way" as well. I have that country on my bucket list for a long time. At least I can cook some japanese food. Beef Teriyaki is a regular dish in my kitchen. Last week it came as Chicken Teriyaki on our table. 🤤
As there is a large japanese community in Düsseldorf you easily get about anything you need. ;-)
There are some photographic leftovers from the other Michael, for example here ->
