@mvg@ieji.de Unfortunately I was really busy and didn't intermingle with locals. As a child busy with sports & school. (very strict parents - had to bring home good grades) And as an adult, work & family. (I was a software developer, the job never ends) But I took 3 years of German when I returned to the US in high school. (that was loooong ago) You probably know how that goes - use it or lose it. I'm a big anime fan, so now I try and learn a little Japanese watching streaming services.

@mvg@ieji.de Yes, I lived in Germany when I was a child, and also shortly as a working adult. Both my father and I were US civil service workers. Maybe 7 or 8 years total.

@mvg@ieji.de Great to see you get the bike up and running how you like it so quickly. Rides to the middle of nowhere are one of the most relaxing things you can do. :)

@takmatsuoka@social.vivaldi.net The portable fan the woman is using is nice. :) The performers are doing a great job despite the heat. I loved living in Japan and miss so many things there, but not the hot and humid summers....

@mvg@ieji.de Even in a small car, getting passed by high speed sports cars and commercial trucks on the Autobahn is noticeable. Can't imagine what it would feel like riding a bike. Scary. :(

@mvg@ieji.de We lived in Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, and Heidelberg. We moved around a lot when I was growing up. Some kids adjust well to that, but I'm an introvert and it was really hard on me. I was in 6 different school systems from grades 1-12. :(
