this is more like the way to say it:

"On the other side of things as the lead developer of Shirakumo I've decided to put out a blanket ban on all of this garbage. I do not care if LLMs work at all, or if they will ever work, or whatever. The usability of LLMs is completely irrelevant. By using them you are happily handing over the single last remaining shred of your human spirit to the capitalists to help them burn everyone else and the world with it to the ground."

man, #guile #scheme is v cool, v v good.

(but also, i really really struggle with the absensce of nil punning. instead of nil everywhere have '(), \#f, and the dreaded \#. why on earth would i want my when clause to return the latter when it could just return nil? i can't fathom it.)

e.g. this bit of the manual i find glaringly, demonstrably false:

"When you go to write an ‘if’ without an alternate (a “one-armed ‘if’”), part of what you are expressing is that you don’t care about the return value (or values) of the expression."

but guile v cool, v v good.

(now i'm gonna turn into one of those folks dreaming about guile emacs, coz it if worked out you'd imaging writing all your extensions and packages and hacks in this elegant motherfucker of a lisp...)

#commonLisp

just spent aaaages working on a toy/art/poetry common lisp project, only to realize like a total dunce that i don't know how to build it for ARM. i guess i either set up quicklisp and all dependencies on the ARM server, and build there, or else have to do same in some kind of, *shudder* docker or similar container? fml

"Hyenas hunt in packs, but each female takes meat back to her own young. No male would dare to take her kill, because female hyenas are bigger and dominant over males. Interestingly, female hyenas have large penises, and in one species give birth through their penis. Some biologists describe these penises as very large clitorises. In any case, this was not the road taken by human evolution. More’s the pity."

tried to build a guile haunt website using exported data from a blogspot site, haunt can't handle HTML entities in posts and i don't know how to fix it. no idea how to modify some shtml parsifying stuff. super simple project, suddenly everything gets insanely technical and i can't follow anything.

tried to make a common lisp coleslaw site to see if it could handle HTML posts better, couldn't even get the skeleton test site to build by running the 5 instructions in the readme.

*sigh*, big *sigh*.

i'd like to be able to build basic sites for poets and heretic philosphers without being some kinda technician... :/

does anyone use featured hashtags on their profiles? i was thinking of implementing for #emacs fedi client #mastodonEl, but i can't even see them when i add one to my profile in the web UI, or on this user's profile, who wrote a blog post about it linking to their own profile for demonstration purposes: @chartier@toot.cafe.

edit: i "featured" a tag on my own profile using the endpoint, but it doesn't appear in my profile data and there is no endpoint to get a user's featured tags...

edit: sorted, thanks for the crowdfunded help. implemented in mastodon.el too. <3

I started working on an essay called "Three fundamental disagreements with the tradition", re Marxism. the three are fetishism, barbarism, cannibalism. More personal than theoretical, or sort of in-between.

So last night i got to reading the anthropology book from which Marx took the concept of fetishism for his famous commodity fetishism, Du cultes des dieux fétiches (1760) by Charles de Brosses, which is about black spirituality in West Africa. Wow, no surprises but it is a steaming pile of racist, white supremacist, colonialist trash... Such "anthropology" is inseparable from European slave traders in Africa, who coined the term, and their perspectives on Black spirituality and the Black societies they were dismantling through human pillage and trade. The irony is that that pillage plays a major role in the development of the wealth that will in Marx's time make the commodity-form so dominant in Europe's commercial centres. Understanding such a transition should be mandatory for any historical materialist...

@janneke@todon.nl given how carefully it is made, i have to assume the guile makers know what they are doing (and i know them and know that they do), and don't doubt that there are good reasons. but i'm very used to nil punning like the blazes, i find it elegant. without it, when/unless become unusable to me. i also don't see why we need three nonentities. can't your queries be satisfied with 2? calling (unspecified?) on something is a monstrosity.... why not return false for a failed when? but anyway, guile v v good :), maybe one day i will see the light re holy prohibition on nil punning!

@zardoz03 thanks for the idea. i ended up using https://www.nongnu.org/guile-lib/doc/ref/htmlprag/ because the built-in haunt parser couldn't handle my html in additional other ways. i guess this define-parsed-entity trick doesn't work with htmlprag. from what i can tell that link is the only documentation. htmlprag's html->shtml, which is what haunt recommends as a replacement "reader" (it's used by spritely) outputs entities like so: (*ENTITY* "additional" "nbsp") in its output tree. when i render a post, that just gets made into a string wrapped in < >.

#emacs nerds, so i know the project-level find/replace workflow: consult-ripgrep, in results buffer change to wgrep-mode, then use iedit-mode to mark all instances of something, edit them, apply, save.

but i wonder how to do this with things that run over multiple lines, like e.g. HTML? i changed consult-ripgrep-args to make it display 2 lines of context around matches in the results buffer, but i can't edit those context lines as normal.
