Nice to see the #rustlang team release v99.0! Why yes, I did used to write a lot of Java. How could you tell?

Linkedin owned me by actually serving up a good post. Everything about it is great. NO WAY BABY
lenovo got no CPUs

dell got no... hardware that doesn't turn off randomly
this is why people buy macs 🫠
mastodon needs a commiserate button because it feels wrong to use a favorite when someone's going through some shit
it's funny how gemini is falling further and further behind but the gemma models are quite successful, google should just embrace it

"As Reddit stock falls, CEO questions value of Google’s AI Overviews"
yeah welcome to the club buddy, I think we all question the value of Google's AI Overviews
naturally when you need gmail's server to send you back an error response it stops doing it
the ban data centers people aren't dreaming big enough, we need to ban streaming video
my hair is just way too big, time to fix that
I really should take melatonin tabs more frequently. It pretty reliably makes me want to go to bed about two hours after the fact. Like I feel lucky that the effect is so on/off for me.
another classic case of "don't like the rules? have you tried being a corporation?"
I finally replaced the 11 year old tires on my econobox. Had a good laugh about how old they were with the guy at the tire shop. The fuel economy is better and they are QUIET. They are so quiet that I now can hear a suspicious clank noise that my car makes when accelerating from a stop :blobcatgoogly:

I appreciate people trying different approaches. Curious to see what their first videos look like.
Reposting that arxiv paper on the trust issues with inference providers and inference routers. I think the main thing that gets lost on people is that it's not just the model that can do damaging things to your system, but there are ways for the service operators to inject attacks also. And every extra router hop in the inference chain is an additional set of operators that you need to trust.
The iphone mini has aged into quite a nice dumb smartphone. The energy consumption while idle still seems quite low (good job apple), but if you start doomscrolling on it you can feel the battery hit. Better close that app!
Kinda funny that one lab is letting you use their credits to access chinese models while the other is putting up blog posts about how scary chinese models are. Didn't really see this split coming, but I guess that's the cannibal king for you.
like of course I'm curious about what SSI has been working on, will laugh if it's something like brute force background training a bunch of LoRAs and merging them during "sleep"
I'm kinda getting tired of avoiding raw lettuce for the silly reason that I don't want explosive diarrhea
after dinking around in iOS 27 for a few days I think the standout part of current liquid glass is that the icons are way better, it's amazing what a little shading can do
As more of my friends get EVs and I start researching it a bit myself, it's fun seeing people successfully use SI units like kWh in everyday life. Like okay, miles/kWh is a funny mix of imperial and metric, but at least I'm seeing less of the abomination that is MPGe.
if you take it as parody bluesky becomes the best site on the internet
This post made me think about the user hostile and anti-libre aspects of our lives. It seems like a lot of them are anchored by capital intensive projects like LLMs, smart phones, TVs, automobiles. Those kinds of things are extremely hard to displace or defang with a software-only approach. Where do we go from here?
