@cyberlyra@hachyderm.io so…if someone were to say…”AI bubble bursts: financial groups quietly short tech stocks…” or something to that effect in a trending post the results would be entertaining?

Meta: We have to do it. Think of the children.
The Children: We haven’t been on Facebook or Instagram in years…it’s filled with olds and creepers.
Meta: …ah…um, yeah. So…still…the children.
ICE: Yup…the children. [click-clack]

So the press has something to talk about other than;
1: Iran
2: The economy
3: The mid terms
4: Cabinet firings
5: Epstein files
6: Dementia
7: about a dozen other stupid things.
The timing is so convenient it could have been printed on the dinner program between dessert and coffee.
And he’ll blame the #press for this and restrict them.
And he’ll try to use it to pressure whomever.
He rolled back something that worked for him before in the election.
#Trump #faked an attack on himself.

Came here to say this, but I’ll append “…who will never have to use it and who will then promptly exit military procurement to cushy jobs with the company that ‘wins’ the contract. ‘Wins’ is defined as “we wrote the spec so there can be only one very specific company and that company’s bid will be ridiculously low since they will make ten times the contract in support and overruns due to said spec being off requiring multiple changes.”

@stux@mstdn.social @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io we all can think of (at least) two other platforms with the same problems…or worse. And, inside of the US, banning those is not discussed. Europe is different, but largely has limited itself to fines…for what is likely the same reason…that people would ignore it or choose something worse if they banned it.
Social media is basically the digital equivalent of smoking at this point.

@Popehat@mastodon.social gotta get the wage slaves started early. I mean 7 bucks an hour is great if you are still living at home. Besides then they also won’t have to pay for schools either.
I’m guessing they are thinking kids would like coal mining (or Chimney Sweep for the Dickensy Libertarians…). If they are shooting for a twofer with harassment I’m guessing they want kids working at Hooters.

@glyph …ah…so software development has finally caught up with…petroleum, medicine, healthcare, manufacturing, corporate farming, media, politics, ….[looks down and realizes he’s running out of fingers to count with]…most things basically. Essentially anywhere someone realized they could make a ton of money making people’s lives a bit worse. Except with coding they were also able to make it arcane enough that there’s no obvious rat-hair-in-the-hotdog to point at and say “this bad…need laws”.

Mob of people: “Hey, I know where we can a bunch of gear and food.”
Prepper: “Yeah, I also have guns and lots of ammo.”
Mob of people: “I know where we can get food *and* guns.”
Prepper: “I have a hundred guns.”
Mob: “There’s a hundred of us.”
Prepper: “Yeah.”
Mob: “You have two hands.”
Prepper: “Yeah.”
Mob: “Math. Plus we have guns too.”
Prepper: “Oh.”
Mob: “But thanks for the food and guns.”
And this result is exactly why the US women are justified in getting the same pay as the men. You can say what you want about the level of competition, skill, etc and whatever. It boils down to this…when the women compete people expect them to win and they do. Multiple world cups and Olympic medals.
When the men’s team competes people hope they do “well” and they always come up short…

No…people are * voluntarily * moving from one mouse trap to another. I’m of a mixed opinion on this.
People choosing is fine. What is being chosen is…suspect. Defiance to authority…particularly authority that is uninformed and corrupt is good.
My take is this; Ticktock has “issues”. Ticktock didn’t get banned because of those issues. It was banned because it wasn’t under ‘their’ control. They care more about controlling Ticktock than fixing it.
