@aptronym@autistics.life "can see past your bs" should be explained to normies, how, why, why they are both blind and not to saying that same bs, and why autistic has this perspective, can it be adopted by others

@troed@swecyb.com If best description is "thinking", how come it can't already write an OS for non-programmer? This isn't the best description. Tools never seen - it doesn't see the tool. @mudasobwa@mastodon.social There is this nuance with all these nerds. They may be convinced only by data from reality, and almost never by words. Sidenote: it makes them good lab-coats. The best and may be only way is to show inputs to chatbot, whole story, outputs, and then link to were this code in public OSS project. Precise lines/files. Either your example will teach them how to promt correctly, or, ... @pndc@social.treehouse.systems @baldur@toot.cafe

@darkuncle@infosec.exchange I have question, is Clouflare is making only PQ or a hybrid approach, PQ+[likes_of_ECC] ? From back and forth with IETF WG, hybrid approach is recommended, but PQ only is RECOMENDED=N RFC, till quantum computers actually arrive, and can actually break likes of ECC.

@troed@swecyb.com MCP servers -> add actual data to hope for better guesses. Intermingle with parsers that check correctness of other guesses. All of these are like force vectors that push guesses, mold guesses. But there are no models there. You head had many. If llm had models, it would stick to them instead of being on a wind of next token train/generator, what we call in humanized way, halucinations (thank marketing for misleading). @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange @hfalcke@mastodon.social

@JimmyB@mas.to @GeofCox@climatejustice.social Pardon me. I have assume that you are one of those normal people, i.e. not into physics types. My question is how do we fix this thing that has just happened. On one hand, people are not interested in details. On another, lack of details, and historic knowledge about details, will bring your "good intentions" into wrong place. This has been exploited. Like with nuclear debate. My question is what do I tell to normal person to snap them into more informed position? What and how?

Ask yourself, get a really deep dive into yourself asking what helped you to make mental models? If you have a kid, would you take from him/her possibility to have these formative experiencies? These are long term questions

@hfalcke@mastodon.social Unfortunately, guesses are picked up as gospels, or more or less good advice from human pro. But it is a guess without modicum of check with reality. Do you know why all of a sudden these agentic things are good with coding, like json output? Injected parsers. Read injected reality checks. But. Without nuances of implementation public is sold that there is an improvement of an underlying LLM guesser. The smoke is the problem. @troed@swecyb.com @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange

@johncarlosbaez@mathstodon.xyz @maxpool@mathstodon.xyz Haven't we seen students writting slop decades before? That student did have a mental model of a problem at hand, and didn't want to form it. Output was slop. It didn't have too many words to fool TA's. Slope nonetheless. Is it more productive to talk about mental model in one's head? Don't want it, ala vibe coding. Want to form it, how one motivates own brain?

@troed@swecyb.com As a human, when we do that "inference" we also train on the way. Note that LLMs don't do that. We are seriously projecting humanized view on this Neural Networks, into which lots of Internet's content was condensed/distilled into. Heck, please point me to place with explicit model of anything in LLMs. You, a human, have it. LLMs just don't have this code. These are Large Language Condensates. Very good for guessing. @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange @hfalcke@mastodon.social

@JimmyB@mas.to @GeofCox@climatejustice.social My priority is grandkids. Accidental "throwing baby away with water" is what I don't like. Grandkids also need high levels of life standard. This needs energy. Actually, lot's of processes are toxic and/or use lot's of materials, or alternatively need ton of energy. Removing non-CO2 options is counter-productive in a long run.
