@fiee@literatur.social Mir war tatsächlich nicht bewusst, dass sich GOES-19 im Erdorbit befindet. Ich hatte da eher an SOHO gedacht. Wobei ich eben nochmal auf Wikipedia nachgelesen und dabei herausgefunden habe, dass sich auch SOHO in "Erdnähe" (genauer: im Orbit um den L₁-Punkt vom Sonne-Erde-System) befindet. Dementsprechend kann man wahrscheinlich davon ausgehen, dass solche Satelliten in etwa ähnlich häufig wie die Erde von Sonnenstürmen betroffen sind. @dlr_next@social.bund.de

@WeirdWriter The image is a first-person view of someone holding an orange flower. The flower is relatively detailed, despite being made of Lego pieces. It has thin and pointy petals built with small pieces in yellow, orange, and red. The centre part is made of red lever/antenna pieces, and round green pieces were used for the stem. It's not quite clear from the picture, but I think the petals are attached in a way that allows you to change the angle at which they protrude from the centre part. #Alt4You @matdevdug

@neonglitzer@norden.social Gerne! :neocat_thumbsup: An dieser Stelle möchte ich auch noch darauf hinweisen, dass YouTube-Videos keinesfalls mit Software wie youtube-dl bzw. yt-dlp heruntergeladen, oder über alternative Oberflächen wie Piped oder Invidious angesehen werden sollten. Das wäre gegen die Nutzungsbedingungen und damit böse. Ich erwähne die Software auch nur, damit man sie nicht aus Versehen verwendet. @sarahbosetti@mastodon.social

@Unknowable Wenn man's ganz genau haben möchte, hat die Rechnung natürlich noch einige Schwächen (beispielsweise ist die markierte Strecke durch die Kugelform der Sonne natürlich etwas länger als hier berechnet), aber für eine grobe Schätzung ist das völlig ausreichend. In der Astronomie kann man eh häufig nach dem Prinzip "angenommen, Pi ist gleich 1" rechnen, ganz nach XKCD 2205: Types of Approximation @dlr_next

@WeirdWriter In terms of raw build time, I don't think it took that much time. A rough estimate puts the part count at somewhere around 100. Of course that does not factor in the time needed to come up with a design like this or to experiment with the pieces. @matdevdug
