Does anybody here do custom ASCII-art animations? I'd like t o commission something — not right away, but soon. Boosts? Appreciated. Hotel? Trivago. #art

This game is going to be referenced in Wikipedia's entry for quiet quitting.

I've been watching old, hand-drawn #anime on my #CRT, since this stuff looks awful on modern TVs without upscaling and whatever other bullshit you kids do nowadays. It's incredible what you can achieve with a modded #Wii plus WiiMC (plus Handbrake for re-encoding.) I took this video like a week ago. After messing with both the Wii and WiiMC settings, stuff looks even better now.

The year is 2099, Sony just announced the PlayStation 24. The release day lineup includes The Last Of Us Part II Remastered "I Promise This Is The Last Time, Guys" Edition. The PlayStation 4 is still being supported. #videogames

Breaking news: the African elephant loses the record for producing the biggest dung in the world. After the release of Windows 11, the record now belongs to Microsoft.

This toot refuses to die, LOL. I don't have a SoundCloud, but it would be nice if you donated to a good cause around you to improve your community 🤙

The guy at the store was genuinely surprised that gamers gave a flying F about these old TVs, LOL.

Here's a very low quality video of the place I got the TV from. They got a ton of stuff, like CD players, boomboxes, turntables, and obviously more CRTs!

The girlfriend wasn't impressed 🤣 Me: "Look, babe, I finally got me a CRT!" Her: — making her best Bobby Hill impression — "OK."

Did I mention that I live on a third floor? My back hurts 😭

@EveHasWords@toot.cat that level of honesty makes me want to buy your stories, even if I'm broke.

I also had forgotten how loud ol' TVs were. Nowadays with TVs getting flatter and flatter, fitting loud speakers has become impossible. This was not an issue in the CRT era, LOL.

Thank you European Union for making all these fucking tech companies bend over!

I don't even live in Europe, but these companies are obviously not gonna manufacture multiple versions of their devices to suit different markets; thus, everybody wins!!!

@rakuno@gamepad.club holy canoli! Kudos to you on completing the game! The longest JRPG I played was Xenoblade Chronicles; it took me exactly 100 hours. I don't think I'd like to jump into a similar kind of adventure right now, but I could later. It'd probably take me less than 153 hours tho, since I'm more of cruising through a game and ignore anything optional.

@rakuno@gamepad.club how long is it? That game has been in my radar for a long time, and reading your toot makes me want to play it as soon as possible.

@nycki@critters.gay is there also a 3DS emulator available?

@Natasha_Jay getting flowers must be nice. I once gave a rose to my best friend 'cuz I love him 😁

@Judeau @in_sympathy and keep in mind you're talking in first world terms here; in "my" country, the concept of the everyday person owning a computer was not a thing until the mid to late 2000s (since all electronics have to be imported, making prices even more ridiculous.) This is where we're heading back...

Funny how as a Caribbean person I wasn't familiar with the bouyon genre until yesterday. My relationship with music has always been complicated. Also funny how bouyon is a Dominican genre, but not Dominican from the Dominican Republic but Dominican from Dominica, an entirely different country, LOL. Anyway, this shit goes way too hard! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2tnwgcBfoA #music

Do I believe in aliens? Yes. Do I believe aliens walk among us? Yes. Where are said aliens, you ask? Cats. It's cats.

1) Remember that Seinfeld episode where a British guy travels to the US to stay with Elaine but he's so obnoxious she can't wait to send him back? Enter Glyn Thomas Bailey, a British man who met a Dominican woman on Facebook and in 2017 decided to come visit her, only for her to end up sending him back. The man came with a one way ticket and no money, planning to live the rest of his days here with his young lover. The British embassy ended up paying for his flight back home...

Now, I don't want to pass judgement — just joking, I totally want to — but apparently Glyn Thomas Bailey made it perfectly clear since day one that he 1) didn't have no money, and 2) was mesmerized by the woman's beauty and wanted to come meet her, which apparently was OK for the lady, at least until he actually showed up on her doorsteps with no money, LOL. If you ask me, this lady saw Glyn as her golden ticket, but he ended up being a scratch and win with the message "keep trying."

Can't wait to rewatch The Simpsons on this beauty 😍

I can finally watch old shit in 4:3, the way god intended 😭

@chris@mstdn.games wait what? That's fuckin' awesome!

@Judeau I was born with a deformed kidney so I sadly don't have that option; will have to wait for this madness to eventually pass.

Ordering a couple of male to female AV cables right away, since I don't want to mess the TV ports with the constant plugging/unplugging. I remember damaging the ports of my mom's 21" Sony Trinitron when I was a kid. Oopsie!

@Artsbyevelyn I'll send you a private message with all the info.

Please tell me that you cannot see me reflected in the TV screen. I was in my undies when I took the picture, and nobody needs to see that shit, LOL.

@DLink@posthat.ca now I'm debating whether to plug in my Nintendo 64 + Everdrive or modded Wii with GameCube ports first.

@Artsbyevelyn despite all the love this post have received I am still looking.

@carrideen now I legitimately want to feed cake to a horse 😭

Here are some UK sources on the story since I'd rather trust the Devil than the Dominican press. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5167705/British-man-stood-Dominican-Republic.html https://metro.co.uk/2017/12/12/brit-becomes-celeb-dominican-republic-internet-girlfriend-rejects-7151973/

@Judeau @in_sympathy yeah, don't worry mate, I got what you meant. Just wanted to re-emphasize the pure craziness of this situation we're dealing with.

@sluggywolfie I'll share the details in a private message.

@64bithero@mstdn.games that beautiful TV glow can sure bring people together 😁

@MrLovenstein that fourth panel caught me off guard, I laughed out loud like an idiot 🤣

@ArtByPatrick sure! I'll send you the details privately.

@the_turtle@mastodon.sdf.org I'd gladly get one or two mores — hernias or CRTs! #NoRagrets.

@DLink@posthat.ca I'm trying to get a full shiny living dex in Pokémon Gold before playing Pokémon Stadium 2, so that might take a while, LOL.

@vriesk that's an option, yes, but the base art would have to be made anyway using other tools — it doesn't exist yet — and the output would have to probably be fine-tuned by a human. I see aalib as a tool an artist may or may not use for something like this, and not as something I'd like to play around with.
