Auch thematisch anknüpfend an meinen letzten Toot zu einem Vortrag vom einem Chaos-Event — Sehe zeitnah mal dazu gekommen, einen Talk von der #gpn24 nachzuschauen:

Okay, at least the app did not get an update, so there's no other way than pulling the update from the Bilbo backend. Unless, it has been embedded already but only needed to be officially released... which is unlikely. I'd love to see someone diving into the relevant API calls and finding it out for us. https://chaos.social/@maehw/116613723290758508

Maybe, there's some other folks using the #Saleae logic analyzers here (or their UI + decoders aka analyzers). So I thought, I could share this question here as well:

🧵 ❓ "Adding a missing SPI chip select signal / decoding a single device without CS"

Is there a chance anyone here has a EMDVK9305SOC — an eval board for the EM Microelectronic EM9305 ("em | bleu") Bluetooth microcontroller/SoC which they don't need anymore? Or a logic analyzer trace of the SPI HCI programming (and optionally also including the UART of the USB/serial interfaces) the NVM with some blinky example using `blengine`?

Hallo zusammen.

The MOSI_or_MISO and MISO_or_MOSI labelling of the channels is obsolete btw. It's perfectly clear which one is which. 🤓

@stacksmashing@infosec.exchange do you have an idea why there is an additional external flash even though there's alway 1 MByte of flash in the uC itself... which may be harder to access than dumping an external flash?

Looks like I will try my best with Perfetto, its Protobuf format and the Python library. I was able to play around with it and it seems to prove at least the basics that I need. And it feels very convenient so far. 8/

Saleae Logic is another great tool — to display digital (binary; high/low) and "analog" waveforms. And markers... which comes closer to what I need for events but basically for single channels only. It has a nice UI where it can blend in decoded data. I guess I want things from various worlds. 4/

For the state timeline.. as mentioned before: I don't want to visualise tasks that can be ready/blocked, waiting, sleeping, idle, ... — I need completely arbitrary state enums per state variable. PlantUML offers a lot of flexibility, but I'd need to break down the time scale to many snippets and stitch them together. But what to use for the waveform? And Perfetto UI trace viewer seems to be made for processes, too. I've also got some VHDL testbench viewer in mind, but can't recall any name. 3/

Oh, I remember that I have seen this one before: WaveDrom (https://wavedrom.com/tutorial.html) But I'd say this is for short digital signal snippets only. And seems to require synchronous data and not something timestamp-based. 7/

For the static view as in classical UML state diagram. But the transitions more like from a "Sankey diagram" to get a feeling how likely one state is followed by another. And I need this for all states of my system. 2/

»(...) none of this is permanent: The power boost from training only lasts until the Smart Brick is removed from that pokémon (or its battery dies), so you can’t train up a squad over time.« — So technically, this reads like training experience must be stored in the brick"s RAM. However, there'd be potential to store it in the brick's external SPI flash. Anyone in Europe got a spare Tag Connect TC2050-IDC-NL they'd sell to me? When new, they seem to cost a fortune. Ali* also does not seem that cheap.

@whitequark yeah, I'd love to see that being done. What's your plan of how to do it? I think you'd need to un-power or desolder the Bluetooth SoC as this one connects the the CS signals and hence should be the bus master. Or desolder the flash? It's so teeny tiny... I can't do it. You could have it from my second PCB.

@whitequark the big one is the custom ASIC and the other one should be the external flash. Do you know about https://github.com/nanash1/smart_brick ? I think they did a great job and this way I didn't have to beep out the PCB myself. Expect for the missing CS line maybe. BTW, when I read the SoC's datasheet, I wondered why they had external flash at all if it already has half a Megabyte internally. Firmware got too big? Guess we'll see soon.
