Two of my biggest clients are asking me to deploy Claude to all their computers. That in turn has spawned pushing git and Xcode (CLI tools at least). On Windows they ask for Python, WSL, and Hyper-V also.
Surely this won’t cause any issues. 😬😬😬

I settled on my #marchintosh project for this year. My clients have been retiring anything with an Intel chip in it. And those have been piling up at my office. So I just finished installing Linux Mint on a few 2015-2017 MacBooks Air. Some $15 AC adapters and out they go to families or kids that need a computer.

I feel pretty much exactly as Kevin eloquently posted here. My “trapped” is slightly worse in that my entire career has been built around supporting people who rely on Apple devices. It’s a microcosm of tech and the USA at large. So depressing.

@DanMorgan@vmst.io I hear you on this post. For me, it always felt incongruent for my Apple-first MSP to run on M365 so I’ve been watching Apple’s response to this with interest. iWork apps started offering real time collab a few years ago but only with personal Apple IDs.
They got closer with Managed Apple Accounts in the last year or so. I plan to put Apple Business’ revamp this week through its paces to see if it gets us over the hump.

A lot of you all are on LinkedIn too. I made a post there about a 9-yo Mac and EOL macOS (for marketing purposes) … over half the replies are saying to switch to Linux.
On a company-owned computer you should have zero expectation of privacy.
(I can’t put that exact phrase in an email to someone paranoid about my installing software on “my computer” that their employer just hired me to manage. So I’m putting it here.)

@jonschwenn my wife’s iPhone does this also. I initially thought it was ad blocking on my network but happens on cell and WiFi. I’ve tried various DNS resolvers, ad blocking extensions, etc. haven’t gotten to the point of purging cache data.
Same as you saw, Chrome/Firefox no issue. That was her accepted solution.
