I just tried 9front for the first time and I feel like I have never used a computer before.
Sometimes I tell myself that I will work carefully, no matter how long it will take, but then I get impatient and things get messy. Luckily the main board did not break and when the RF modulator was finally removed, adding the HD-64 HDMI board was a breeze. I my opinion it was really worth it. The video output is really crisp and I need considerably less cables compared to the external converter I used before. Also no lag! 🙂 #commodore64 #c64 #hd64

@cos I wouldn't be surprised if they used the data to find out more about their user base, which would be a violation of European data protection laws. I have not investigated how the data is used, but the fact that I more or less expect this from Mozilla is very telling, unfortunately.
I used to name my computers after characters from J. D. Salinger's stories. I remember Holden, Phoebe and Seymour. Now I name them after characters from the Alien films. My current laptop is called Ripley and my next computer will be called Vasquez. I have no idea what that says about me.

@FREEZE64 I never owned a ZX Spectrum, but I love that the graphics have their own distinct aesthetics. My 12 year old me (C64 kid) would have made fun of the color palette, but nowadays I can appreciate the uniqueness of the graphics and I have to admit that rectangular pixels aren't exactly the best either. 😉

@scops Very tempting, but I will probably use what I got for now. I also remembered that I have an old Nokia LD-3W GPS receiver with Bluetooth which I haven't used in ages. I just tried using it and the NMEA data I get from it is fairly easy to parse and contains date and time. I may use it just for the heck of it. It won't work inside, but on the other hand, I can always use my phone as a WiFi hotspot and get time and date via NTP.

@FREEZE64 As far as I know, more people from the East have moved to the West than the other way around.
@FREEZE64 It is still possible to see the effects of the Division of Germany on the map. Most subscribers are located in what used to be West Germany, where you could just walk into a regular computer shop to buy a C64. When the wall fell in November 1989, the C64 was probably not very interesting for many people anymore.

@philipnorton42 I may buy some of the Hackergadgets parts at some point in the future. Right now I am happy with the uConsole the way it is, but upgrading it for more CPU power and an SSD sounds tempting. I have not tried LoRa yet, but it sounds interesting. I have already installed DOSBox, but I have not used it yet. I have only played the C64 version of Giana Sisters in vice. I used a gamepad since I did not get the keyboard mapping right yet.

If you live in Europe and want to buy a uConsole, I can recommend https://rpishop.cz I received the package after just a few days for an OK price. ClockworkPi usually needs several months for shipping and buying from the scalpers at Aliexpress was out of the question. I bought the extension board from https://www.tindie.com/products/wtdstore/uether/ and received it super quick. (I'm not getting paid for this post. 😉)
