People think of Toht as an unredeemable villain, but I think that the fact he is on first name terms with his ‘henchmen’ at least suggests an open and inclusive workplace.
Although unfortunately I must admit this is right before a series of dreadful work-related injuries.
Things in the world are tough, I know, but it hasn’t always been this way. There was a time, not so very long ago, when Kit Kats came in a little jacket of tinfoil which you could smooth down and imprint the logo onto.
I know it’s hard to imagine now, but those times will come again.

It’s not ideal that I get mixed up between Alan Ginsberg and Alan Greenspan.
We watched the rocket launch and I am feeling happy and excited, and determinedly not being cynical or miserable about this, finally something positive dominating the news! I know it costs a lot, but so did a certain person spaffing off his missiles into schools, and I know which one I find more inspiring.
I have just discovered that William Golding was Cornish. Suddenly his opinion of humanity makes a lot more sense.
