Not sure how it is in your country but when our politicians scream about food security they neglect the fact that about 75% of Belgium's agricultural area is used to grow animal feed. And here's the shocker: 75% of the meat produced in Belgium is exported.

Some more nest boxes, this time for robins. First time I use (scrap) plywood for nest boxes. It is heat treated but will apply some varnish or oil. Let's see how well they hold up. Two for our own garden and two for the #foodforest

Made three more bird houses with leftover wood from our fence and a larix top. This time as gifts for my parents and brothers, not the foodforest.

@Irisfreundin@troet.cafe I adhere to Dowding's principle that compost is ready when you need it 😀 It can decompose perfectly fine around the vegetables.

We lost one pear tree to the sinuate peartree borer and had to cut it down. I think we also lost one abricot tree to the apricot-peachtree borer. Luckily we planted more 😃

Half of the lost agricultural land in Flanders between 2000 and 2010 was likely due to horsification.

@kmmich@mas.to Hard to put a figure on that, estimates range from 4 to 12%. Also very different according to the region.
