Digital being trapped in an analog body.
Some Machine Spirits seem to like me better than they like the people running them.

The end of the first Sicario movie is still one of the best reflections on the modern justice system.
One of the main reasons for the existence of the justice system is providing victims and their relatives with a sense of justice (mostly in order to prevent vigilante justice).
If the justice system fails to fulfill that main reason, the alternative becomes necessary.
That's why the ending is so satisfying, even if children are being murdered.
It should mandatory in law school.
It could improve society.

It's terrible to see. I feel sad for all the potential juniors and (future) seniors, and for those already in it getting the short end of the stick.
I'm only still in the industry for the love of the game. I love what I'm doing and I'm infinitely thankful to be able to do it as a job. That's the only reason I content myself with shit pay, terrible hours, enforced "grind" and the constant need to prove myself just to keep my job.
And I feel like employers know this, that the people in the industry love their job, so they don't have to give them any benefits.
Add the overcrowded job market and it makes things even worse.
I think you put it rather well.
I hope that things might be better some day, but I don't know if that hope is not unfounded.

TADC Episode 5
I watched the first four episodes when they were released, but only continuing now.
I remember the animation being good but I don't remember it being *this* good.
It's a delight!

Rant about Infosec and AI
Oh yes, of course I love working in the snake oil industry for such prestigious clients such as Torment Nexus LLC and Megacorp.
No of course I don't mind that industries like water, electricity and healthcare are now increasingly pivoting towards putting the functionality and security of their systems into the hands of stochastic black boxes.
And I'd never think it a bad thing that these developments get me closer to the brink of unemployment every day.
Why do you ask?

I don't really like the term "ethical hacker", for one because it's cringe to call yourself the good guy but even more because it often implies that hackers that don't work for some corp or government are somehow automatically unethical.
There's even a certification called "Certified Ethical Hacker", which is absolute dogshit both in regards to its content and its format.
Which I think is very fitting.

The Blade Runner 2099 trailer looks so bland.
I hope it's just a bad first impression.
However, I don't think they'll fix the terrible CGI before release. It's really a curse on the whole entertainment industry, CGI is getting worse every year, a process that has been going on for at least a decade.
Nobody wants to make art anymore, it's all about cashgrabbing from the lowest common denominator

Phantom Liberty ending spoilers
@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com
I was kinda confused when I learned that some people were pissed/shocked at the reveal that the cure would only be for her.
Like, duh! I thought that was obvious from the second she explained the plan as a hologram at the gates of Dogtown.
I was like "okay, fair. That's an obvious lie about fixing the Johnny problem, but you seem nice enough, I like to help people and there's probably plenty of other benefits of aiding a world-class Netrunner, so count me in."
And in the end, it was worth it.

Even if he were to follow this supposedly principled stance, it would be super easy to do.
Take any text editor, write some .html, .js, and .css files and host them using a barebones server engine.
This is just looking for excuses to not do things.

They also have a hyperdeflated currency to the point where almost all goods and services cost one (1) of the smallest unit of the currency.
