@hughsie given that I have seen users stuck in a manually triggered restart loop due to fsck that was being run automatically at boot time, hidden behind a splash screen, an clear indication that it's still working not stuck is definitely needed. @notsoloud @jzb @thomholwerda well any asset and investment really and it's not just the US, it's EU member states + UK as well ( river of cash has stop flowing to the west and is now flowing to the east ), since they are actually in worse shape than the US. US can always manipulate the reserve currency to keep themselves afloat, EU+UK cannot, given how the EURO is setup, once one country goes tits up, all of them will fall like dominoes and there is no one to bail them out since US cant.

@stargazersmith @QasimRashid America is a nation born in debt and out of violence. Fast forward 250 years & the nations is more in debt and inherently more violent it has not evolved a bit. Heck you can even make the case it's gone backward. Today America is just a third world country which is attached to the white house and wall street. And nations are reflected in their leader(s) The current administration is a symptom not a cause.

@hughsie@mastodon.social @ebassi@mastodon.social if you reveal that you are using AI to generate code in the private sector, you undermine your value as an employee, which will either prevent you from receiving pay raise and or eventually get you fired and simply be replaced by that same AI you yourself used to generate the code you submitted.

@troed @nixCraft and in American fashion the administration bet the entire U.S economy on AI, when that bubble will go bust, it will go bad, real bad Add that to the effects of America's illegal war of choice with Iran ( which will be Q4/Q1 2027 ) shit will be real tough unless you are in that upper class in America...

@ell1e@hachyderm.io @hughsie@mastodon.social @ebassi@mastodon.social btw similar evolution is happening in the "office" space as in the more people use AI in their job ( reports and such ), for their CV, some sort of grants submission form so fourth and so on, are less likely to retain or get a job, receive a grant, pay raise etc. since it highlights lack of knowledge, low effort, enthusiasm for the job or project etc.

@georgetakei it's checks and balances is failing to work. The government is so corrupt that it does not matter who people vote for the end result is the same. America is a third world country attached to the white house and wall street. These hearings are just a charade, shenanigans with those individuals that do show up either outright lie or refuse to answer any question. A nation is reflected in it's leader(s) Trump is a symptom not a cause. America is a failed experiment, an failed state.

@georgetakei to change the course of action requires amending the U.S constitution, or for a state, or group of states to legally secede and become independent from the United States, forming a new country with it's own constitutions, written by and for the people living in that or those states but that also requires amending the constitution, both approaches will never be allowed to pass since the system itself is so corrupt.

@QasimRashid Then you have genocide in gaza which Americans are complicit in. Just in 2025 alone, the U.S bombed 8 countries, use it's navy to kill civilians on small boats and conducting piracy. It started 2026 by kidnapping a president of a sovereign nation, started illegal war against Iran, setting the global economy and the entire Middle East/West Asia on fire when doing so and currently is gearing it self up for war with China.

@QasimRashid oh and it also started executing it's own citizen in broad daylight with impunity ( ICE ) and repeatedly violates international and domestic laws along with it's own constitution meaning checks and balances are no longer work, regardless which party people vote for, which means America is a rogue nation and a failed state. As I said America does not discriminate on it's murdering spree, be it their own civilians or abroad.

@bookwar @b0rk even upstream I experienced Red Hat employee had administrative privileges, granting administrative privileges on the repository for a new hire that had not even made a single pull request for a single patch to the repository & without as much as a heads up he had planned on doing so. Not even a single email saying hi, we just hired this guy or he's joining our team yata yata & I would like to bla bla bla. Which was the exact RH corporate culture when I was active in Fedora QA.

@argv_minus_one @sesivany and then sealed into deep geological structures. The thorium based molten salt reactors can be combined with online separation technology to extract Pa-233 in real time and promote its decay into U-233, improving fuel utilization. The Rare earth elements contained in the waste can be extracted and recovered, offsetting approximately 15% of the processing costs. It also has significant volume advantage over Uranium waste so there is that too.

At the beginning annual production rate of Zigong General Aviation International is expected to be around 100 aircraft's and have a unit cost of <=2 million RMB ( <=$295k ). The Little Eagle is a direct domestically produced competitor with Cessna 172R, which holds market dominance in China but comes with the hefty price tag of 7 - 14 million RMB ( Approximately $1 -$2 million ). If you run a flight school in China you will pay off the Little Eagle in a year & have zero external dependencies

So it comes as no surprise that the first customers are flight schools in China. The ROI of other segments is 2 - 5 years. Performance Parameters: Maximum Takeoff Weight: 1110 kg Service Ceiling: 4200 m Range: 1000 km Cruising Speed: 225 km/h Supports takeoff and landing on unpaved runways, grass, snow, and water with optional floats. And it's expected to gain market dominance in China quite quickly given the initial and operational cost savings of the aircraft.

@ManyRoads @QasimRashid it's cut from the same cloth so that should come as no surprise and now EU member states have lost their self identities and become vassal states of the U.S. gearing itself up for a war against the largest state in Europe, Russia at U.S behest. While Americans prepare to lid the APAC region on fire and setting the stage up for "Greater North America" the American equivalent of the Greater Israel project.

@sesivany I would have thought that Czechia would be all over Gen 4 Thorium-based nuclear power . The Chinese are busy coming of with SMR's in all shapes and size, which will outproduce any windmill(s) during it's lifetime and can have a footprint of an truck ( since it quite literally can come on one ) Have the Americans convinced Czechia to shutdown it's nuclear plants like it did in Germany and de-industrialize itself in the process?

@sesivany this new thorium based Gen 4 nuclear technology makes nuclear reactors inherently safe, which in turn makes any sort of NIMBY arguments mute really. ( China is about to put those into commercial ships ) And without abundance of cheap electricity, no country in Europe will be able to compete with East Asia on industrial level so that mindset needs to change for future generations. In China they are already moving into factory/dc sized, mobile & ocean/floating platforms solutions.

@thomholwerda this is nothing new. The American military only achieves tactical successes, while suffering strategic defeat, which leads to the only war that U.S military ever "wins" ( not that there are winners in wars ) is the one it has with it's defense budget. That's it's superpower it's military might, it defeats the budget. It spent 20 years in Afghanistan and when it finally admitted defeat and fled, it left the opposition better armed then when it arrived...

@QasimRashid@mastodon.social well the Americans do not discriminate on America's global murdering spree. US sanctions alone over 50 year period are associated with 38 million deaths. Children under five made up 51 percent of total deaths caused by sanctions. Most deaths, 77 percent, were in the 0-15 and 60-80 age groups. These are children and grandparents who have the profound misfortune of living in a country in which America has decided to punish...

@hughsie@mastodon.social @ebassi@mastodon.social you are an good example why all the value resides in "senior developers" when AI is put to practical use as an tool. You are an individual that understand the code thus can differentiate bad AI results/suggestions from good AI results/suggestions. What the above means is that Uni grads will have an extremely difficult time finding jobs in the future, in America and Europe due to lack of experience and coherent government policies how, when and where AI should be used.
