@tante@tldr.nettime.org What ever happened to the freedom to use software any way you want to? A still existing Debian ideal. When that was adopted the concern was for software used to do genetic research, and the use of software could not be restricted from that. Now the mandarins of Codeberg, who are known for their malicious fork of Gitea, want to ban AI tools and blockchain research. Bleh.

@evacide@hachyderm.io While I do "think" that, I also understand the practicality. I have to use Messenger and Line some of the time, annoying as that is.

@evacide@hachyderm.io if done to a human we call that"social engineering" so if done to an LLM, is that "meta engineering"?

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange is that true for any notetaking software or voice and video recording? How is AI any different?

@sharpcheddargoblin@reclusive.blog @Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange "lying slop machine" is just "algorithm aversion". Software can make mistakes, for gods sake autocorrect or even "glide recognition" screws up regularly, or rather has less than 100% accuracy. We don't condemn all of its efforts because of that.

This fascinating essay on the attack on competency connects the dots between the decline of virtually everything and the rise in the investor class.

@alfiekohn this is a very convoluted simplification. Akin to clickbait. Just say the actual findings: increased loneliness increases chatbot use, but increased chatbot use does not decrease loneliness. Simple and clear.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org This is a betrayal of open source principles that Codeberg claims to champion. The idea that you can do whatever you want isn't principled leadership, it is abuse of power.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org When an organization claims to better represent a community and then begins to systematically restrict what that community is allowed to do, what do we call that but creeping authoritarianism. Your marketing is lies convering a cabal.

@brainsmatter clickbaity headline, sadly the real finding is buried at the end of the article, as specific medical domain determines accuracy, and with "accuracy soaring over 90%" when the AI models are fed useful medical data about the patient. Lots of user error...
