@omar@mastodon.bsd.cafe Is it gone? Like, I don't really know, maybe I'm consistently lucky, I'm yet to run into audio issue on Linux with Pipewire. I just install any (non DIY) distro and audio works. I'm not going to talk much about Wayland problems, I've heard that they exist in Nvidia land, but I run AMD GPU, so can't say much. I'm not sure what Flatpak broke, in my experience flatpak apps work more reliably. You can't install a thing that will trigger upgrade of QT and will break Telegram for example, that happened to me more than once before I flatpaked it and it stopped happening. And from dev side it's much better as well.

Experienced user will be able to handle it probably and noob will copy-paste random commands from the LLM and give all the passwords and social security number to the prompts anyway, no amount of roadblocks will succeed at blocking stupidity.

Отдельно скажу, что доступ к ssh по паролю - изначально штука не такая безопасная и лучше было бы сгенерить отдельный ключ на телефоне и переслать публичный на ноут, а доступ по паролю отрубить к фигам. В худшем случае придётся просто убрать доступ ключу.

There's generally no way around copy-paste phase, and anyone in that phase will not understand why roadblocks are here, so it surely won't stop them, and anyone after that phase will not need those roadblocks.

@lenny@piaille.fr How old are we talking? Like, is it straight up pre-UEFI times? Maybe it has UEFI but windows installation is BIOS mode? Anyway, my recommendations would be to check whether your motherboard has UEFI or BIOS, and whether your drive was formatted with GPT or MBR in case of BIOS. Best case is GPT+UEFI, any generic guide for manual partitioning will be working for you if you can just shrink windows partition(tldr for all of them - make a 4-16GB partition, use as swap; make a 512MB partition - use as EFI partition; make a partition with rest of your space - use as /)

Obviously it didn't went well, because that was back in 2017-ish, one year give or take, and I liked playing games. But I vibed with it, so I dual booted until somewhere in 2021-2022, when I already felt like support was good enough, I wiped windows from the hard drive from my old laptop.

Так нужно будет платить налог только на прибыль, а больничные и пенсия - опционально. Правда там меньше защиты от государства, так что с договором придётся аккуратно, но в теории - ты можешь.

А яндексовские и прочие приближённые к государям хостинги исключать из расчёта нельзя, потому что через них идёт очень много ВПН трафика. В общем, цифры хуйня, мне уже 3-ий семестр менджмент и подобную фигню в курс(программист btw) кидают, чтобы наши "менеджеры" базовую хуйню делали настолько на отъебись.

@omar@mastodon.bsd.cafe Niri would be a mess on X11 because it wasn't built with infinite screens in mind. Also whole "we send every key to every window" business is not ideal to say the least. Flatpak made software easier to ship for developers and easier to manage permissions for users. Pipewire made everything better for DAW developers, streaming software developers, for all sort of complex media software developers it's easier to deal with unified media stream model than to deal with thing that wasn't supposed to do anything but play things and record things.

@Flaky@furry.engineer Have you tried #winboat ? It basically sets up a QEMU VM for you and uses RDP to make it so you can open windows app and it opens as a separate window(although there is desktop mode if you want). It works great on Niri in my experience.

@rvps2001@mastodon.social I want to reiterate under this post to get the point across: if you ever hear of politicians proposing banning something uncontroversially bad, think of it in terms of precedent, because it often matters a lot more than law itself. In Russia, first precedent of infringement of freedom of speech and thing that ultimately lead to current extremism laws was ban on propaganda of pedophilia. No one was against because duh, who'd protect PDFs. In EU, there's a clear pipeline that will start at ban on slurs or smth like that and will inevitably end at same point unless stopped around the start.
