After an enormous amount of work and dedication from FreeCAD contributors we are delighted to announce that FreeCAD Version 1.1 is now released and available for download. There are significant amounts of improvements and new features.

FreeCAD 1.1.1 released
Hot on the heals of version 1.1.0 we are pleased to announce the release of version 1.1.1. You can check out the release notes and the full change log on the repository, it's fair to say that there are a LOT of small fixes to enhance your experiences with FreeCAD. As ever massive thanks to all contributors and developers for taking the time and effort to continue to improve #FreeCAD
Tutorial: Importing and Using Scaled Reference Images
Often we might need to create geometry to fit real world objects that we don't have a CAD model for. Whilst we might jump to complex 3D scanning methods and more, sometimes a simple reference image, or images, can really help the process. Even more so if we can accurately scale the image.

New WIP Design for Manufacture Workbench
One of the most fantastic things about FreeCAD is the constant flow of people making brilliant add on collections of tools. One work in progress that has caught our eye is the FreeCAD DFM Workbench. The Design For Manufacture (DFM) workbench aims to perform analysis of your FreeCAD models against user configurable sets of rules to identify potential problems in manufacturing.

The bug bounty program has been renewed
The FreeCAD Project Association has renewed the bug bounty program it launched last year. The budget is once again €5,000. The rules are simple: fix 5 confirmed issues from the FreeCAD GitHub issue tracker and receive a reward of €250.
