@davidgerard@circumstances.run Most of the dedicated turntables for audio ripping I've seen are low end tables with midling electronics. I'd suggest an average direct drive turntable (a technics SL series for instance) with a new needle, a phono preamp and any half decent sound card (usb is fine).

@Haste I mean, I didn't sign up to the patreons of people I like so I could have the website decide NOT to show me the things I signed up for. A real timeline doesn't do that, although I've noticed patreon has been messing with it because I'll get emails for things that don't show up on the feed. I guess this is saying out loud what they've already been doing behind the scenes.

@Misofist@girlcock.club @leo@60228.dev The short of it (I rabbit holed on this all morning) is that if makemkv reports "Libredrvie: enabled" you are good to go. If it says "possible (firmware update)" then you need to manually flash

@leo@60228.dev @Misofist@girlcock.club Yes, LibreDrive just allows you to ignore the revocation check, but if there is a newer MKB on the disc then the drive will update its revocation list regardless of what firmware is installed. Also, for most drives you don't need to actually flash libredrive, it gets downloaded to the drive when makemkv starts up.
