People will reduce infinitely detailed reality to a handful of composable abstractions encoded as numbers and letters for *anything*. Math, baseball, and TIL: flowers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floral_formula

Me, now: ok Temani got me
I read https://moultano.wordpress.com/2026/06/19/where-to-find-the-colors-your-screen-cant-show-you/ last week and despite some muddiness around “color” as measurable stimulus vs “color” as subjective experience, I really enjoyed it. It got me thinking about adding primaries. Today I learned: people are on the case: https://en.ubiresearchnet.com/multi-primary-color-display-technology-2026/

RE: @sturobson@front-end.social
I love it when CSS enables designing dynamic systems w/ defined relationships and constraints, rather than static values and artifacts
- media queries → responsive layouts
- clamp() and viewport-relative units → dynamic typographic scales
- oklch/lab, color-mix(), and contrast-color() → dynamic color schemes
Hey, you! You there, looking at a screen. You should read a little Wendell Berry today. And think (and be challenged) about your values, and work, and tools; your one precious life on this one precious earth. And – perhaps, if you are very brave – you might think a little about death.
RIP Wendell Berry.

RE: @chriskirknielsen@front-end.social
Seems like every time I see @jaffathecake@mastodon.social is working on something these days I:
1. hadn't even considered the problem
2. now find it blindingly obvious, kind of an emergency!??
3. oh right, good, Jake is on the case
Beyond art direction and responsive loading... -as-poster would allow video posters to have their own accessible name. Which is great!
📝 I wrote a thing about color spaces in general and oklab()/oklch() in particular.
. @scottjehl@mstdn.social ’s video lazyloading work getting a headline callout in the BlinkOn 21 keynote, heck yeah
@5t3ph@front-end.social either no one ever told me about object-fit: scale-down, or I'd forgotten about it; in either case I am furious.
Thank you!
Well, now I want One Big Arcade Button in a Big Box
