Good morning all. It's a beautiful, cool Saturday morning here in Pittsburgh and we are going to the ball game this afternoon.
A couple of weeks ago, Christine was in State College and stopped by the Penn State creamery. She bought their famous sticky buns. When she got them home, we froze them but thawed one out last night for part of our breakfast. They're huge, and splitting one certainly was enough for each of us. In a skillet of butter, we fry them just a bit so that the outsides were a little bit crunchy, and the insides were soft and gooey. Oh they were good! We also had strawberries and I had a banana. It was a great breakfast.
Have a good Saturday everyone.
Happy birthday to @FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com
Thank you for sharing your music, software and much more with all of us. Have a fun birthday!
Good morning all. It's a beautiful, sunny Spring day here.
I just finished our online Aldi order and based on conversations on Mastodon from others that I follow, I added Stroopwafel ice cream sandwiches to the cart. And I had to buy more of those peanut butter cups. There's also plenty of fruit and veggies in the cart.
Saturday, we're going to our first Pirates game for this year. We hadn't been since 2019 when our local station added close to 30 second delay. They now have ListenWiFi as an audio option and they claim it's live. Since I don't know what the delay in what we'll hear is, I'm taking a radio. The last time we were there, I found a harmonic of the TV broadcast which included broadcasters to crew chatter between innings. So either way, we should have live coverage solved.
Have a good day everyone.

Saturday, I posted Radio Jay Allen's review of the LITEMALADSP/MALAHITEAM MLite-880 portable software defined radio. I hear that because of its complex menu structure with multiple pages, it may not work well as a receiver for a blind person. I posted something on X about this, asking if there were people who are blind using SDR radios, but got no response.
This portable sounds really neat with adjustable noise blanker, good FM with multiple band width selections and SSB for SW.
If I find anything else about this, or any other SDR, I'll post here.
we're back home from PNC Park. The good news is the Pirates won.
Our ListenWiFi experience was less than acceptable. First, we went to a different gate since a guest services kiosk was close and they helped us set up ListenWiFi. Once we got to our seats, ballpark WiFi was spotty and we lost signal. We both tried reconnecting the game and often got no WiFi connection alerts.
Luckily, I bought a small portable and tuned in to a fringe AM station that was maybe 2 seconds behind live action. Our local FM flagship is 30 seconds behind. So we stayed tune to my radio throughout.
One thing I have to do is learn to better adjust my hearing aids in crowd situations. Throughout the game, 4 people behind me talked loudly about everything but the game until they left in the 8th inning. But we're home now and I'm tired.
Have a good evening.
@Bruce@allovertheplace.ca happy birthday. We haven't spoken in a long time. I hope this message finds you well.
@Marvella@dragonscave.space Happy birthday. I hope it's one that brings you lots of good memories.
