@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange a story that’s worth the potential embarrassment of them being upside down, honestly

@mgorny@social.treehouse.systems honestly, whenever gentoo comes up for me, I end up praising the stability I run ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" in my make.conf, so I get pretty frequent updates. I run an LLVM profile with mold as my system linker and LTO enabled for everything. even with all that, I have a more stable experience with gentoo than I’ve had with basically any other desktop linux. sure, sometimes I find myself opening a cursed issue on b.g.o, but my system hasn’t ever broken! the work the gentoo devs put in to make sure everything is stable and everything works well across many different setups is incredible, and the stability that comes with portage sure doesn’t hurt either

@gsuberland@chaos.social @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange @DJGummikuh@mastodon.social it does a great job of making him look puppy-sized

@jneen@unstable.systems god i love footnotes

@kouhai …oh, it’s the card game, not the sharp-ended implement

@mcc@mastodon.social this seems like a solvable problem but not in ways that don’t involve unhealthy radiation and/or heavy metal exposure. probably for the best we invented ereaders instead

@AmyZenunim god that metaphor makes me so mad baking a cake and decorating it are entirely different skills and it’s possible to do either without knowing or being good at the other which, uh, is surprisingly appropriate here given “drawing manga” and “drawing boxes” are also pretty different skills!

@mattblaze I quite like the names we use here in Toronto, which are… quite descriptive. “Engines” are Pumpers, “trucks” are Aerials, and then we have Rescue Pumpers, Hazmat, Heavy Rescue Squads, and two High Rise units as the other primary apparatus (plus some variants like Tower and Platform). Then all the secondary apparatus like the Air/Lights, the giant “Tower One” (which is support, not primary; the other Towers are primary I think), and all the chiefs are just called “car” over the radio. They also have a pretty cool foam pumper I’ve seen around once or twice, and I’m not sure if it would be primary or secondary (not sure how it’s crewed). It is, fittingly, assigned the unit number FP121.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems congrats on being officially allowed to post by the UK government

@q DHCP…S?

@wallmask3@mastodon.art “the gray cat is gray cat, a gray cat” excellent, i love it

@Talen_Lee@kind.social new haruhi movie that’s just endless eight, but higher quality

@lunalapin@slime.global did you reconstruct too many fish

@argentumcation@social.treehouse.systems @kouhai@social.treehouse.systems and I were talking about this one day and, uh it would be a lot even just to do, like, all the ones within a kilometer of me. the entire city would be absurd

@argentumcation@social.treehouse.systems @kouhai@social.treehouse.systems I thought someone else was but my memory of such things is bad >_<

@rcombs@social.treehouse.systems oh yeah, congrats!

@whitequark pretty similar to what we’ve got here, though we have a total ban on “no pets” clauses (they’re legally void, whether they’re in the rental agreement or not; the only exception is condominiums, which have stronger powers to govern themselves) and I don’t think rental bidding is much of a thing here but it’s also not banned afaik tenant protections good

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange hmmm does it show feet and inches for me, a canadian, or centimeters? because either would be a valid choice here, actually, and depending on context you might want either

@jyn haha yeahh

@jyn this is half of why I posted my cursed fish media management one-liners on here

@gsuberland@chaos.social no electronic N, or L. only M

@mxshift@social.treehouse.systems @ComfyConAU@infosec.exchange @pancakescon@infosec.exchange no IHOP here but I could go to Denny’s… I was up too early this morning to celebrate with the proper breakfast lol

@Emily @pancakescon and thank you for making my job easy, during that transition!
