I just finished the #Megadrive game "Tougiou King Colossus".
A perfect example of a hidden gem. I'd never heard of it. It was Japan only at launch, but has a translation patch. And it's a lot of fun.
An ARPG, a tiny bit like Zelda. It has light RPG elements and a simplistic combat, but the upgrade and progression system is very satisfying. It's very streamlined - no overworld, no towns, no shops, just dungeons and bosses. And it has some of the best music I've heard on the MD!
Help me out, fedi, with some #music recommendations. I'm trying to overcome my middle-aged prejudice that kids these days don't know about good music...
I want to hear some recent (<10 years) albums by recent bands that fit my tastes.
Here's some of what I dig:
70s: Genesis, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin
80s: Marillion, Iron Maiden, Metallica
90s: Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden
00s+: Ghost, New Pornographers
Recommend away! Will listen to all albums!
Little known "pop fact": Geri Halliwell is actually "Ginger Spice" from the "Spice Girls".
It took 6 months, but my #C64U finally arrived and it's lovely!
Feels authentic, works great, and is even impressing an old #ZXSpectrum veteran like me.
I've got it using a Kernel ROM called "DolffyDOS", which is a mix of DolphinDOS and JiffyDOS. This really speeds up loading.
Love the little touches, like being able to FTP to it... though the cassette USB stick is both wonderful and terrible at the same time, and who thought to put the SD card slot inside the case!?
An idyllic misty/sunny morning at Redcar #parkrun.
I set off with a pace in mind to get a 26 minute 5k, ran the whole race around that pace, and crossed the finish line a few seconds under... then looked at my watch and saw it had only logged 4.97km!
I paused the activity and ran a little bit further, but Garmin gave me a time of 26:10, so just over. Still a PB though!
Found the gatekeeper, but no sign of the keymaster as yet.
Emerges from the bushes, covered in "secretion". Uh huh.
Possible solution to "challenge": issue every able-bodied citizen with an eye-poking stick.
I would vote NO on prop 14A. The last thing that guy needs is a back room.
I would add: get into the habit of washing up as you go along.
A canal is a terrible waterway from which to launch a "challenge" against the whole world. Foiled by a couple of locks...
Holding out for a bombastic final eight minutes...
Nothing conveys threat and dread better than men dispassionately exchanging information.
This is just talking.
I sometimes feel sorry for Madonna. I mean, where do you go after "La Isla Bonita"?
The whole world DID go crazy, I suppose.
Feral teens, up to no good, I shouldn't wonder.
Damned with faint praise: this is better than "Another Level" at least.
Feeder were awesome, and you inevitable naysayers are entitled to your opinions, but wrong.
Not a lot of places to take being "21st Century Girls" in 1999 is there? Like, in one years time you're just "Current Century Girls", and there's nothing cool about that.
It's #FourJobFiesta time again folks!
Had a lot of fun last year with a standard run and completed the game with all the major bosses, so decided to give it a go this year as a "Natural Run".
This run imposes restrictions on who can take which job. Bartz must take the 1st, Lenna the 2nd, etc.
So far, I'm two crystals in and have Black Mage and Bezerker. Healing is going to be tough...
In my mind, this song and the opening theme from The Banana Bunch are basically the same thing.
I'm finally exploring Nod Krai for the first time in #GenshinImpact and it immediately feels more on-brand than Natlan.
The story seems more interesting and coherent as well. And it was good to finally "meet" Lumine. In fact, the whole "breaking into the Frostmoon Scions sanctum" felt like the first piece of actual character development for Traveller. Doing something naughty! Something to feel shame about!
Of course, it was immediately cleared up... but, baby steps.
