@darkuncle the latest CircleCI report makes clear that the vast majority of companies are over investing in AI tools, while under investing in what is required to make them work, safely in this case.

@lkanies LOL. AI does all kinds of fantastical things that it can't currently do, except disrupt Uber. 😂 I wonder if the authors of that think piece ever wondered if someday in the far off future self driving cars might exist that you could call from an app on your phone. 🤣

@lkanies heh. I meant we have already had Waymos in San Francisco for a long time but the idea that Uber is somehow immune to AI disruption is particularly hysterical.

@cwebber ha! My AI has specific instructions to never attempt to write for me or attempt to rewrite anything I write. I tell it all the time that it's a much worse writer than I am. That means I use it often as a rubber duck, but not for the writing itself.

@hazelweakly if this is true, and I'd argue it is, why are people in such a panic that agents write some code? It would seem these are the things to focus on for impact. I never started freaking out when Puppet started writing Apache httpd instead of using vi(1). I moved on to higher level concerns. Yet many people are in a frenzy because Claude wrote a for loop instead of them doing it by hand.

Which is precisely the point that was being made.

I said if the situation was reversed, those people would consider those things to be political beliefs and you decided to make it some kind of ad hominem attack on me. You seem incapable or unwilling to do the thought exercise of reversal, therefore a lack of self awareness on full display. Well done. Thank you.
