Bluebells, just coming down from the Carriageway in Rothbury on a group walk
A friend and I had joint senior moments yesterday with amusing consequences. I'd posted a rather esoteric joke on Facebook. He responded with another rather esoteric joke but managed to hit enter half way through.
I spent 15 minutes contemplating what I thought must be extremely esoteric and subtle humour before noticing that he had posted the second half! @JohnDal@mastodon.green
High tide at Low Hauxley.
A group walk left me feeling quite annoyed today and a bit upset. I will be trying to avoid a certain individual from now on, and I certainly won't discuss politics with him. It started out with him saying that the government takes too much in tax, and inheritance tax was unfair. I told him that I disagreed, I thought that in principle inheritance tax is a good tax especially withe the generous free allowance. Why should someone with rich parents not be taxed for just getting money when someone earning it would. I said that personally I'd prefer to live in a world where my children, and everyone's children, could afford a house and reasonable standard of living without my help and be taxed more.

"That's not a meeting 😬"
Unfortunately it's a very common type of meeting!
Crow on post. Well a forbid anyway, I'm reasonably sure it's a crow but I only saw it in siluet. Taken on Ogdon Moor.
I had to pinch this one!
Random thought:
Pet animals are extremely successful kleptoparasites!
can't help thinking that the true North is under-represented here. I mean Durham, Northumberland, and Cumbria have just as good nondescript towns as Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester 😉.
Einstein: You only get certainty in mathematics.
Gödel: You only get certainty in mathematics, and even then you can't be certain of everything and when you are certain the opposite might also be true.
Einstein: Are you sure?

He then said that that maybe it was a pocket of moderates but if someone sneaked into a mosque you'd find they were extremists. I pointed out to him that for most and probably all mosques in Britain you would not have to sneak in, anyone is allowed. He asked me if I'd been in one, obviously expecting me to say no, but I told him that it was a very risky thing to do. (I'd been on a Bradford event for unity where we visited a Mosque, a Church, a Gurdwara, and a Synagogue and I don't think anyone felt at risk.
Sorry for the rant, it just all left me with a bad feeling.
A walk from Wooler was cancelled due to the bad forecast. With the weather appearing to be better further south we headed to Morpeth. The Wansbeck was very high, the stepping stones covered.
@christianp@mathstodon.xyz Happy birthday and I give you the location 40°00'00.0"N 40°00'00.0"E in Türkiye. Though there is no street view of the exact location the picture is close to it. Enjoy the warm weather, sunshine and hills!
I should just ignore an idiot but I can't help taking it personally. I have mixed race nephews and nieces.
People say "you can change if you really want to". But if you really want to then you've already changed. You are just working on breaking old habits and building new ones.
Let me guess what Trump's deal in Greenland will propose. Complete sovereignty of bases including mineral rights. Combine this with them already being able to build and expand bases where needed for defence, and if anyone were stupid enough to sign it the next stage would be declaring all areas with lucrative minerals as needed for military defense.
@ketanjoshi.co It just occurred to me that the lyrics to the 1970s glam rock song that nobody understood at the time now make perfect sense in the world of AI chatbots.
"Metal guru could it be you're gonna bring my baby to me?
She'll be wild you know, a rock 'n' roll child, oh yeah
Metal guru has it been
Just like a silver-studded saber-toothed dream
I'll be clean you know, pollution machine"
Gerry Anderson's TV series had some fantastic signature tunes.
