Thornydre over at blenderartists created a very nice feather generator, which uses curves instead of cards. :D (you might already know I'm not a big fan of haircards xD)
Over the weekend, I experimented a bit with it. I'm not that experienced with realistic feathers yet, but it is an amazing geonodes setup which allows for fast iteration. Can recommend everyone who wants to create realistic feathered creatures to try it.

The last few days I've been studying for a written exam. I don't mind oral exams, presentations or term papers, but written exams are my bane. >.<

Recently I learned that controlling Blender from Processing using osc messages is pretty easy... and my university has a room full of cameras, sensors and projectors. 👀

@catflyhigh@troet.cafe @feliks@chaos.social The blur and straight clipping artefacts around the title feel very much like human-made image editing. Also looks like a bit of sharpening was applied. If I had to edit an old scan like this, I would use similar techniques. Also, it is a legit mad print, I think chances are high a human was paid for this.

Another bonus is the principled hair bsdf shader, which is specifically made for splines. This was my main problem with hair cards, emulating the look of the hair shader for a mesh is almost impossible.

@catflyhigh@troet.cafe I also got very cautious with images, as I do not want to share genAI memes, even if the idea is funny. I prefer fast and crappy image edits or drawings over generated images all day. It gives a special human touch and layer of irony that AI memes will never have.

@kaye@cathode.church It's a scam, but to get the broad categorisations, they use the same tech, so it just goes further. Social media is the biggest offender in this, since it's for "everybody" they need data groups.
A lot of it boils down to one side wanting convenience, and the other wanting to make money with "better" service. My tinfoil hat theory is that all the metrics on ad platforms are massivly inflated (especially meta)
