These works are stunning. This one in particular struck me.

Gee I wonder which room their "mom" is in.
If y'all into sim games and you like cars well then I got some good news for ya. Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is currently free on Steam for its 8th anniversary. Don't wait tho, this offer ends on the 27th. I happen to have Car Mech Sim 2021 and can absolutely rec that one (excellent podcast game btw). Never played the predecessor but it looks to be fundamentally the same. (also there's a new one coming this year woo)

Season: A Letter to the Future (PC/PS5, xp'd on PS5) Your best friend in the village has a dream that the Season is about to end. You decide to leave the village and go out into the world on your bike to catalog as much as you can so that the future might remember this Season.
This is a short (9h to credits for me) "walking sim" that, if I'm honest, is rather melancholic. In this alternate universe, there are purple crystals that have affects on people's memories, and dreams. While the world is very pretty to look at, there is an underlying current of sadness, of inevitability. There's moments of amusement, to be sure, but this is a more ruminative game.
Overall gameplay is simple: take pictures, record sounds, sketch, scrapbook, and talk to the people you meet to fill your notebook with all the memories you can make of this Season before it ends. The game doesn't feel rushed, tho. Plenty of time to observe and talk to everyone, and pet all the animals too.
I always enjoy games that have that "hand drawn" art style. The music is very well done and complements the game well. There's good voice actors, too. Considering that they play a big part in the game, the SFX are also very well done.
Overall this was yet another small experience I am very glad I was able to partake of. Highly recommend. 👍

I been awfully quiet for most of a month cause busy. So far, I have:
✔️ Rebuilt/replaced half the front door steps.
✔️ Repaired the front/back entry doors so they open and shut properly, and installed deadbolts.
✔️ Installed a new toilet, discovering "my friend can fix that for cheap" horrors. (this whole house reeks of that thought process, btw.)
✔️ Installed a new range hood
✔️ Planed the bedroom doors so they'd open and close properly.
✔️ "Repaired" the shower drain (really I just put a rubber seal down to fill space and then a decent amount of silicone to seal everything AMAP, likely replace that shower stall with something else)
✔️ Installed a new bathroom faucet, which "magically" fixed the cold water pressure there, so
✔️ DC'd the kitchen faucet hot water hose and blew it out with my compressor which "magically" fixed the hot water issue there
✔️ Installed a PVC/ABS awning over the front door (yeah it's plastic with aluminum bracing strips but it was cheap and feels sturdy enough once bolted to the house + it looks nice, plan to put one over the kitchen window to deal with summer sun)
✔️ Rebuilt the back porch which was rotting out due to a corroded bit of weather stripping
✔️ Tore the ramp off the back porch (led straight to the back yard, assume a more elderly than me person wanted to keep ability to get out there) which was rotting out, discovered the porch end foundation was rotten, rebuilt that and ended the porch with a railing.
✔️ Prepped up an area in the back yard for a 10x6' shed, which involved tearing out a fire pit of railroad tie, bunch of broken paving stones, cherry tree sucklings and roots, leveling the area and placing foundation stones. Building shed today.
✔️ Replaced some bottom skirting with lattice/mesh wire to let the crawl space breathe, smelled mildew so def necessary.
Still have managed to find time to play a little NMS and check out the new Expedition tho. Not sure if being trained to clean toxic waste is Hello Games being cute or prescient 🤪
Installed a much needed new 72 pin connector on the ole front loader NES yesterday. Naturally the connector is Chinesium crap, so I was not entirely shocked that it failed to work correctly right away. Testing a known working, clean pins game I got blank screen. Messing about with the tray, I got a response when it was about 3/4s of the way to the final locked position. Fine.
Figuring it required a bit of "breaking in" so that games would properly load in the locked position, I then embarked on a project that took a good few hours: cracking open every game cart I have and cleaning the board pins to make sure they wouldn't foul the new connector, then testing each one.
And yes, "breaking in" was in fact needed, as after about a dozen testing attempts with the first cleaned cart the game started launching properly with a little fiddling. By the time I got through cleaning my collection the games were launching properly first try nearly every time. I have a couple carts that seem to be misaligned a tad such that they fail to launch when fully seated in the tray, so I have to pull them slightly back so that they juuuust clear the NES chassis when the tray is locked down, and then they launch.
Nice to finally have a properly working NES again. Also pleased with the 2007 Magnavox 15 inch display I got off eBay for $60. Fully functional and only one bad pixel in the upper right corner that is only notable on black screens. Much better than the little 9 inch I was using. Wish it was a CRT but they are damn pricey these days so it'll have to do.
Next will be the SNES Jr. Needs a new 62 pin cart slot. That one will be more fun as it'll require soldering. Also I don't seem to be able to find anything but "normal" slots for sale so I guess I'll have to gamble it'll fit in the chassis? They seem the same other than the metal shield, shrug. Might look into acquiring an OG SNES parts console I can fix up. Never liked the Jr.
Total Reload (PC) You wake up in an AI's droid body, and are quickly tasked with solving your way through the puzzle maze he's been building for millennia, with quite the lofty goal as your reward.
This is a pretty good Portal inspired FP puzzle game. Has all the things you'd expect: a disembodied "AI" talking to you, cubes, a gadgety gun, lots of rooms that require you to figure out the what the order of actions is.
Gonna get my 2 nitpicks out the way first. 1) the actor playing the AI speaks in a stilted, fast, odd pattern, which is fine, but also mispronounces words for .. reasons? Ex, "cube" is "koob". IDK, maybe it's just a me thing but I thought it was a little annoying. 2) I found myself slowed down by the switch hitboxes being so small that if you're carrying a cube, you can get it "knocked out" of your hands, making you have to pick it up and hit the switch again etc. Again, could just be a me thing, shrug.
However, those weren't a big distraction from my enjoyment of the game. It's not Portal (what could be, really) but I certainly found myself scratching my head more than a few times trying to decipher what I was supposed to do, which is great for this kinda game.
The story is decent, and being able to "ask" the AI questions is a neat add. Mechanics are a bit floaty and slow but not gratingly so. (I also had odd issues with the controls/controller at times, but that could be a local deal with my Linux Distro.) The few music tracks are decent bops, so they don't get annoying which is good as you'll likely hear them often, heh. I clocked 15 hours to complete it but it's me so at least an hour, maybe 2 is afk time?
All around this is a very good effort to make a Portal game by a small dev. If you like the genre you should pick it up. It's a solid 3/5 👍
