Another point here too is that Proton was forced to turn over the payment information, they didn’t just give it up.
With a paid account I’d think it would make sense to use email aliases for nearly every communication you have so your actual proton email isn’t exposed. This is built in to ProtonPass. Might not have stopped linking that alias to a payment but it couldn’t hurt.

@User47@vmst.io If you have any kind of GPU at all Deepseek-R1 runs fine locally. And they mine the shit out of Claude so most of the functionality eventually shows up there anyway.
I’m moving to my own Matrix instance and leaving Discord AND Signal.
I will say, building out a terraform project from scratch with some help from Claude has taught me a whole lot more about terraform project structure and abstraction than I ever got from reading blogs.
Still not a fan. It still tries to do stupid stuff but its at least been useful as a teaching tool in this instance.
It’s a been a week. LinkStack hasn’t crashed again. Maybe I fixed the CPU issue?

while I did enjoy the ecobee I had, at least as a Nest replacement, mine had A LOT of weird issues that someone who isn't versed in spotting software bugs would probably have trouble with.
Like sending a stupid alert before checking to see if the HVAC is even on first. Or in one case for me ALWAYS reporting terrible air quality unless a desk fan was pointed directly at it blowing full blast. Or having the motion detector randomly spaz out.
I’ll always have a soft spot for metalcore and Erra absolutely knocked it out of the park with Silence Outlives the Earth.

I’ve been driving EVs for over a decade. Getting a Tesla was revolutionary for my travel because of the extreme reliability of always being able to charge whenever and wherever I was traveling.
I didn’t encounter a single dead charging stall for years.
On this trip from San Diego to Missouri, there has been at least one dead stall at every single stop I’ve made.
Like it or not, EVs as a mode of transportation will completely fail and disappear except for regions like the west coast if the Supercharger network falls into disrepair.
It needs to be its own company.

Used Netgear Orbi mesh wifi for $300 less than retail is up and working perfect in my mom’s house. We actually have usable wifi throughout the entire house now for the first time literally ever.
Something with the construction materials from the ‘50s just annihilates wifi here. My hypothesis is it’s the wood paneling in every room just absorbing everything but we’re working really well tonight.
My car is even connected from the farthest garage away. I’ll actually be able to download updates if needed while I’m here.

IIRC the meeting maker can do that. I want it function like Zoom, Slack, Discord, Matrix, Mattermost, HipChat, etc where I can override the meeting settings to always be muted when I join any meeting.

@User47@vmst.io Just install ollama. Then you can use it to pull and run all kinds of models. I just generally use Deepseek-R1 as it's a decent reasoning model and a little more focused for my use cases. You just have to find the right parameter size for your hardware that gives you a reasonable compromise of complexity and utility vs performance. I generally use the 8b model on a mobile 3060 in my laptop.
All concentrations of power and wealth must be outlawed, eliminated and returned to the people.

What I have is a PC that’s just kind of always on with a multi capture card that takes in video from several sources. I have an output plugged into a really cheap HDMI distributor which then goes into capture cards attached to all of my client machines. The audio from that PC goes into the mixer with all the other sources including my mic.
From the central PC I can output any of the video feeds it takes in to any client PC as well as mix all of the audio in any way I choose. The mixer audio gets put into a powered distributor that gets input into each client PC as well.
Have you ever worked anywhere that actually encrypted sensitive information at a column/field/table level? Or did your credit card/loan/insurance/etc processing service tick the “encryption at rest” checkbox and move on?

Experimenting with Claude and OpenClaw locally now. Seems to work fairly well using the more recent open models from China. I've gotten more used to the Claude workflow from work, though I can definitely tell a degradation in accuracy from Sonnet and Opus at work. But Qwen3.5 seems pretty damn close.
The only companies that participate in "Best Place to Work" surveys are those that are so insecure that they feel the need to "game" outside recognition to make themselves feel better about building a hostile and non-inclusive workplace.
Every company that participates makes the list because you pay to be nominated for it and there's usually enough HR people to 5 star rate everything that you'll get in regardless.

I think its likely ChatGPT or Claude chose obsolete targeting data.
Lets not pretend that this entire thing isn't being managed from the top by an LLM for people who can't force themselves to do even 5 minutes of actual work and not by the actual military.

I bought a Yamaha mixer to have push button access to mix different sources into my mic output or to mix my mic into other sources. Also fun to throw effects on my voice in meetings sometimes.

Dogfooding is a tried and true software development philosophy to enhance the QA process so these guys have likely been talking all day to LLMs for a decade now with zero concern for how their brain is eroding.
