Splitting words so as to break the force of the laws; confounding names so as to change what had been definitely settled; practising corrupt ways so as to throw the government into confusion: all guilty of these things were put to death.
Keep your safety in mind and don't make loud statements for which you might go to the places not-so-far-from-here, because there you will help no one.
Not immediately. It's not cheaper to fly to pick up a box of pocky. But the curves pass incredibly quickly.
>In Operation Epic Fury against Iran, 20 troops can carry out the same workload.
a bit of AI skepticism is how you can avoid killing ~167 school girls. You don't need a lot.
@Terry @Leoban if you press enough, you'll get a Motte and Bailey. No, terror-bombing civilians out of frustration with your inability to secure a military win, that's really not going to move a government from 'stable' to 'collapsed'. But terror-bombing can be a useful excuse for an already collapsing government. When the status is "collapse progress: 99%" but that last 1% is still holding, with the terror-bombing and everyone can say: OK, fuck it, let's just surrender.
That's the other story with Japan. It's not that nuke were more threatening than
- lose the entire Navy
- get constantly bombed
- lose on land
- have the victors in Europe turn to finish you off, with the Soviets declaring war
- have already been fighting for years and taken horrific losses and resorted to kamikaze attacks but nukes were shocking enough that the Japanese could accept defeat.
In short: Trump is entirely delusional about Iran's perspective on this and believes his own bullshit about Iran wanting to surrender, and terror-bombing Iran he hopes will give Iranians a solid excuse to do what they already want to do.
OK, it wasn't AI Lich Netanyahu, where Israel used AI to pretend he wasn't dead, but AI Coward Netanyahu, who used AI to pretend that he wasn't safely in Germany where the Wings of Zion retreated to.
@TrevorGoodchild >Holocaust I entirely forgot about that!
My least favorite Wyatt take was his triumphant celebration of Ukraine 'breaching' Russia's defensive line in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, in which the reality was
- this happened after 3 solid months of no movement except for Ukraine feeding Leopards into mines and losing entire columns before ever even seeing Russians
- there were three defensive lines and the 'breach' was not actually through the outermost line
- the 'breach' was into a totally hopeless valley overlooked by fire, it was a cul-de-sac that Ukraine's second or third army of the conflict was buried into for no rational military reason
Wyatt take: this breach means that Ukraine's already won and is going to wrap this up in a matter of weeks. The defense is broken and will crumble rapidly now. My take: that anyone's excited by this breach means that Ukraine's already lost and we're not going to hear about any Ukrainian victories ever again outside of (I thought post-war!) acts of terrorism.
Because I made such a strong argument I felt compelled to follow the front more closely after that, which was indeed a huge waste of time. That's what's so painful about the take.
@Terry pinbal:
The normie's understanding of society is basically Hume's billard table. Stuff just "happens" and nobody can say why, there is no discernable causation, no causal interrelation between any of the parts. This is what "but how does this affect you personally?" means. "Dude why do you care about your own country's domestic/foreign policy? How does this affect you?" ...Oh wow a sudden economic downturn, food is now 4x more expensive. Nobody could have predicted this" To the normie it's all an unpredictably random aggregate of occurrences. where the normie is clearly the intended result. Nobody knows economics enough to suspect that it might be bad to have a government counterfeiter (or that this even differs from historical mints), and nobody has enough of a functional memory even to notice when programs are started for reasons that are then forgotten:
- two weeks to flatten the curve. Did anyone still supporting lockdowns a year later even remember "flatten the curve", or what these words meant?
- if even 30% of the public gets the vaccine, the pandemic will be over. Well, more than 30% got it. Why are you mandating the vaccine and wanting to punish refusers?
- children and healthy people aren't basically have no risk from Covid. The big danger is actually that so many people will spread it while not even noticing the infection, it's so weak! Why you vaccinating the military and children?
- evolutionary pressure on viruses is towards more infectious but less deadly variants. Every single lauded new variant of Covid followed this trend exactly. Why are you fearmongering this new weaker variant of the already weak disease?
- the most highly mutable portion of the covid virus is the spike protein. That's going to change a lot as the virus mutates naturally. ... why does this vaccine work by producing only an old variant's spike protein?
- the vaccine is promised to not affect the body outside of the injection site. None of the material leaves the injection site. No cells outside of the injection site are modified by the mRNA. It's just some modified muscle tissue that trains the immune system to fight covid until the modified cells are destroyed. Hey, look, there's mRNA elsewhere in the body! Is that not weird?
- we need sanctions on Russia so that Russia can't afford military action and to provoke a civilian uprising and then regime change. Well, it's been four years of Russia doing just fine on both respects, after 20 more rounds of sanctions, so why does German industry still need to die off?
- Bombing Serbia is OK because political secession is a sacred right of self-determination of peoples. Why is it bad that Crimea left Ukraine to be with Russia? Why is it bad that these regions of Ukraine are fighting to leave Ukraine? Why is it bad for Russia to intervene like the US did?
People act like you can't comment on any of this stuff without being an "expert". Well motherfucker I'm an expert in remembering what YOU YOURSELF told me two weeks ago.
I don't care about faster downloads, man, I care about ONLINE LAG.
In the decades since, all of mankind seems to have performed this optimization on the human brain. And in professional and social life, I'm frequently irritated by people who communicate to me in very small packets.
In turn I irritate people with very large packets.
In general my frustration is this message:
>hey
with nothing after. I have to respond just to hear what this guy actually wants from me. Why don't you just say it? Why don't you provide a complete technical question, that I could just answer? Why are you wasting everyone's time?
I made some kind of a wish on a monkey's paw when I wanted more responsive games.
Trump's immediate problem: the Strait is closed and this is is giving Iran incredible leverage. Trump: blocking it gives leverage? OK! We should block it then!
Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz. this is so breathtaking stupid that I don't think it's real at all. This is
- an expression of Trump's contempt for you, the reader
- an obviously stupid distraction so you don't notice
I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. MORE DISGUSTING PIRACY THIS TIME AGAINST FRIENDLY NATIONS
People are probably restraining Trump from stupid actions, not through persuasion, but through deception and information hiding. So the only smart thing the US has done the entire war, of allowing some oil to keep flowing, was probably done tough someone just not explaining how dumb and self-destructive any alternative would be to Trump.
People didn't talk to Biden because he wasn't present to talk with. People aren't talking to Trump because if you disagree with him, even about specific means to achieve ends that he wants you to help him meet, he rages out.
That Trump is compromised is not even the biggest problem with him.
Q: could this also be a distraction? A: it can't get worse than
We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians laid in the Straits Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be BLOWN TO HELL! ... nah, that's normal, unironically. If he were setting something up he'd have larger threats. Note: it is "Any Iranian" who the statement concerns, and it's folowed by Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti AIrcrat and Radar are useless, Khomeini, and most of their "Leaders" are dead, What happened here is simply that someone tried to discourage Trump from dropping a bunch of useless nukes, by explaining that even civilian megadeath and collapse of the country would not prevent small vengeful groups from a blockade. If we want ships to move here we actually need the cooperation of the locals, it's so easy to deny the ships! So Trump's response is: aha, then I need to threaten to kill some small vengeful groups.

A loss is not a permanent thing, if you simply take it. A taken loss can be motivational, cleansing. You can shake off the rust and unrealistic ambitions, and aim for something new. The US just went to the moon and there are absolutely incredible riches in near space, and new military prospects too. What you want on Earth, you can actually buy. It's not actually cheaper to steal. Empires should be treated like a temporary embarrassment caused by surrounding weak states, and not a goal or a thing to care about maintaining. Empires destroy the core population, as happened in Rome and is happening now in US. America would be better off without an empire, and if the loss had simply been taken it'd even shortly be more respected and safer. The Democrats might've even crucified Trump's administration well enough to discourage some of the long-term Iranian vengeance.
Well, nothing's guaranteed. Trump could just do - nothing. That would be nice.
