I don't live near a data center yet (there may be one coming) but I live near an electricity sub station and being on the Autistic spectrum the low-end hum when it'd under high capacity - although quiet to most people - can be excruciating to someone like me.

@CarstenBoll@mstdn.dk @kimschulz@social.data.coop the problem with Meshtastic and Meshcore is it is dominated with radio hams (not knocking the hams - they do a good job). Hams won't touch Reticulum because of the encryption issue which is a shame. Reticulum is built for private comms so isn't really in competition with MT/MC. Even though I'm a Reticulum guy I am impressed how the Meshcore community have come together and built a very well connected network. Just a shame they have to deal with so much spam which clogs up bandwidth. And the fact software is behind a paywall.

@soeren@floss.social @kimschulz@social.data.coop Depends what you are trying to acheive. I can vouch for the T-Echo paired with a Paradar 5db+ antenna if you are just getting started. Don't forget that Reticulum can do much more than LoRa.

Tried sorting my transport nodes out. Still having problems. In the mean time I flashed Ratspeak software to Cardputer ADV and it works flawlessly. I have Pyxis on the T-Deck. I tried reflashing Ratdeck to the T-Deck but still having problems. The only thing I can think of is if the preamble is set properly. Just doesn’t seem to be recievable. #ratspeak #pyxis #reticulum #rns #lora

Okay. I bought two Heltec LoRa32 V4’s to be used as transport nodes. I just want these to work as transport nodes and nothing else. Tried the web flasher and I think I put the wrong firmware on. Usually don’t have a problem flashing Rnodes but this is different. Can anyone suggest the best way of getting these things working as transport nodes? #reticulum #lora #meshradio

I see Meshtastic/Core being more for radio hams and RNS for people trying to do private comms.

They are not the same.Reticulum does not use IP addresses; it operates without source addresses and allows for globally unique addressing and identification. @tante@tldr.nettime.org One thing I have found is that, as somebody who is quite forgetful which is partly down to my health, I have increased my useage of tech to remember things. Especially on the smartwatch. Everything gets put on the smartwatch. I actually think I now rely on tech to remember everything for me is bad because I'm basically telling my brain to forget because it's all stored on my watch. So now I've started trying to push myself to remember. I've also stopped viewing posts on Instagram because it's a complete slop affair now.
