A friend in Budapest sent my sister a video of a huge crowd singing " We are the Champions" tonight. That was the biggest happiest crowd. I haven't seen that many Happy People in a long, long, time. Wow, did that display of joy feel good to see.

Today I learned Studio Ghibli old-school threatened Harvey Weinstein by sending him a single katana and a note that said "No cuts."

Weinstein, was trying to shorten Princess Mononoke for American audiences and Toshio Suzuki was having none of that.

Wow.

Copilot has this little function now where it reads through your emails and tries to determine what your top priorities for the day should be. 😐

I know exactly what my priority should be because i'm using my brain--you know--wetware. 🤔

This feels like when your mother tries to tell you, you need to make your bed when you've already made your bed and you're also 50 years old.

It has a special weird feeling to it. I think it wakes up some part of your brain that is eternally trying to survive a persistance predator. Maybe its a dopamine high from the running. Maybe it is your ancestors running with you like the train of a comet. There are some science fiction movies that create a similar feel where they create a Third Man who talks to the hero in stressful situations on space(who is not really there). Do you think Aliens, as a concept, are just our Third Man?

I have got to stop doing laundry on a "Writing Day." At first, it seemed logical, do a load of laundry, write, fold clothes, do a load, write...

But its causing me to dread a " writing day" with some sort of negative Pavlovian feeling.

Next weekend I will not pair the two. Writing need to be nice and easy, involving tea and biscuits...my muse is so bougie.

Lastly, and this will be totally controversial: A Classic Sideways Smiley Emoji was found in a 1648 printed poem, To Fortune, by Robert Herrick. I mean, the modern brain goes straight there. But most people think it is a typographical error. Did they use colons back then?

Feckless:
From 16th century Scotland. Feck meaning "effect." Thus, feckless is "without effect."
Feckful, of course, has fallen out of use.

Fanfeckingtastic! It actually makes sense!

@falcennial I have never thought anyone was chasing me on a bike! Maybe your brain is too busy interacting with a machine? Long bike rides are all about not falling, where are my knees, I said don't fall like Hoogerland in the 2011 Tour De France man...this bike seat sucks, should I switch grips, let's drink some water, I am only on mile 31? Etc etc i mean there is just a lot of brain discussion there. I think my ghostly chasers sit that one out. Maybe others have a different experience.

Explain to me why many corporations still have desk phones that require a line, and a handset that requires one of those curly messed up always tangled handset cords that makes every want to scream? Why can't I have a wireless phone of some sort with no handset cord? Hmm?

I don't get it. I am forever shutting my office door so I can put someone on speaker so I don't have to finish a degree in quantum entanglement to get the handset cord straight..

Somebody explain why we haven't evolved??

Then there is Kubota machines, which of course everyone knows. They make small combine harvesters adapted for local, often difficult, terrain conditions. They also make the decently priced and my favoritely named machine- The Gonghammer: type of walk-behind, self-propelled corn harvester tailored for smaller, manual-style, manual-style, small-scale farming environments. That's what my k-drama needed.

Isn't it about time we had some kind of rocket race in space to cheer on? It doesn't have to be the Kessel Run, or the Razorback in a Transplanetary Race. How about you have to blast off, do 3 orbits of earth and one track around the moon and then land? Surely we have enough competing transports at this time? The betting tables could hopping. Reality shows. Rich billionaire oligarchs vs. Actual functioning governments, etc.

(I, forgive me, am apparently seeking out a new distraction.)

I stayed home today as I am under the weather. I have, however, managed to accomplish the following all from my lazy boy chair:

1. Attend an hour long TEAMS meeting on market share and revue streams.

2. Purchased and planned for the delivery of a new washing machine ( finally).

3. Ordered potting soil and planters for curbside delivery so I can plan my robot garden.

Now I need a nap, followed by some writing time.... but I will need to go to the study for that.

Every now and then I try to trip up Etsy to see if the site will actually tell me that they don't have something. Tonight I thought, what about krakens in space?I bet Etsy doesn't have anything depicting astronaut krakens or krakens in space!

Wrongo!

They've got Jeep spare tire covers showing a kraken grabbing an astronaut in space, there are tote bags, an amazing umbrella showing a cosmic kraken with planets, t-shirts, mugs..paintings... who knew?

@yngmar I enjoyed something not Disney/Marvell/StarWars which was a nice change! It was very imaginative and cinematic, a kind of Steam Punk Post-Apocalypse Fantasy fusion. It tried to be many things. I enjoyed it. The forceful impregnation of women was too...creepy. I didnt realize it was connected to Bujji and Bhairava, which was a little anime series on Netflix i thought was great. Love the B and B characters.

The speed of light is a conversion factor between space and time. Then there is quantum locality. Doesn't that break the speed of light? No, because you cannot verify quantum entanglement by anything other than sublight means. Information is not "going" beyond FTL to get from point a to b in a quantum connection. Spooky action at a distance just doesn't make sense to me. Needless to say that put me to sleep. So glad that literature degree was good for something.🫤

The first week of May is an absolute delight isn't it?

We've got May Day, followed by May the Fourth Be With You, followed by Cinco De Mayo.

The energies: celebration of Spring, of life, of Worker's Rights. A relaxed celebration of Jedi Lore, followed by celebrating a rebellion against colonizers that turned into a huge Good Eatin' Day. I mean the vibes are fab.

On Friday I will order groceries to be delivered having forgotten I fever-dreamed added ice cream late one night. It will automagically appear at my house with no more than the gentle stretching and tapping of my thumb a few times. This lethargic lazy indolent hunter gatherer mode is just shameful. And I guess calorie laden and delicious?

@yngmar Cornbread Krusteaz Cornbread Mix 6 oz of cream of corn 8 oz kernel corn 1/2 cup sour cream 6 oz diced chiles 1 c of shredded Mexican cheese Mix it up by hand. Use olive oil to coat an 8x8 pan. Pour mixture in. Put 2/3 a cup of shredded Mex cheese onto the mix. Bake according to box directions, than add 15-20 minutes because with the extra ingredient it takes longer. When cheese is golden brown and bread is firm, take out. Best with cowboy beans. Add butter and honey to taste.

I don't know why there aren't any elven tales or fairies or some such creature of the night that come to massage your aching mortal feet amd you just give them all your gold in exchange.

I would so do it. Here's all my gold and that bottle of whiskey I have been saving.

It is hotter than Hades outside this morning It worked outside for a bit and was instantly sweaty with red cheeks.

It is supposed to hit 95 Fahrenheit/ 35 Celsius today with low humidity and a fire watch.

I may indeed live on Crematoria and I need Riddick to find me soon. Send the Furyan, pretty please.

The love bugs are out and about, and, uh, "love-bugging." They are good because the eat mosquitos, but bad because when they smash on your car's paint job, they are slightly acidic and will mess up your paint if you don't wash them off within a day.

Contrary to popular belief, they are not an escaped University of Florida lab experiment. Maybe in the previous timeline before things went haywire, darn those people at CERN.

I still secretly believe it might be true. 😉

" In the 1980's when Neuromancer was synonymous with the cyberpunk genre, millenials likely visualized the " dead channel" in the book's opening line as the static that emerged on a tube television when broadcast signals were cut off. These dead channels made a hissing sound as the screen filled with black animated dots with a snowy white background." Gosh, such a careful explanation. (2/2)
