Es is schon ne Shitshow..
PRIVILEG¹ Backofen hat nen Defekt. Keine Garantie mehr weil zu alt. Wills reparieren lassen weil ich kein Fan der Wegwerfkultur bin. Also die Servicehotline angerufen um nen Reparaturauftrag zu stellen.
Wie sich rausstellt landet man da aber nicht bei ner Servicestelle sondern bei ner Versicherung. Dort wird abgeklopf ob noch Garantie vorhanden ist. Wenn nicht, gibts n Pauschalangebot von 239€ für die Reparatur. All inclusive. Oder man schließt für 19,90€/Monat (erstes Jahr, danach 9,99€/Monat, soweit ich mich erinnere) ab.
Also Versicherung abgeschlossen weil 20cent günstiger und der alte Ofen dann n Jahr lang save is.
Erst jetz werd ich an die "zuständige Stelle" weitergeleitet. Dort fragt man mich nach Modell, Seriennummer, usw. und nach ner Fehlerbeschreibung. Danach hieß es, der Techniker meldet sich innerhalb 2er Werktage.
Bis zu diesem Punkt is mir schon aufgefallen, dass ziemlich deutlich und oft auf #Datenschutz hingewiesen wird (was ja auch löblich sein kann)... Auch im Versicherungsvertrag behandeln über 2 Seiten das Thema. U.a. die Weitergabe an Dritte und Nutzung zu Werbezwecken.
Und dann schicken sie mir gestern allen ernstes 2 SMS und ne Mail mit der Aufforderung das Etikett des Ofens über ne tracking-verlinkte Webseite zu scannen. Das gleiche Etikett, das ich in der Hotline vorgelesen hab und dort ins System eingegeben wurde.
Der Link lief über ne AWS tracking Seite bei der #ublock natürlich anschlug. Danke dafür. (So zu sehen auf dem angehängten Bild)
Meine Fresse.. Dieser #ÜberwachungsKapitalismus nervt nur noch ...
¹ PRIVILEG, BauKnecht und Whirlpool sind wohl alle ein Verbund. Betrifft also vermutlich nicht nur erstere Marke.

And while the timer ticks down GrapheneOS decides to do a casual update and then auto-reboots... The timer keeps ticking down as if nothing happened and your bread turns out to be delicious.

What would you recommend as a terminal based text editor for HTML editing?

OK..news from the "involuntary admin" front.
Infos I had from my partners mother:
"I can do nothing on my laptop any more. There's always a message 'no permission' when I try X or Y. And it said deleting cookies may help so I tried. But something went wrong and I was afraid to continue"
What I saw when I checked the laptop:
- Firefox icon in task bar and desktop blank
- Chrome icon in task bar and desktop blank
- Virus scanner icon in task bar and desktop blank
- All 3 programs didn't start although OS said they are installed
What they saw in my face:
"How the bloody hell..... wtf.. ??"
It took me 50 minutes to reinstall the 3 programs on her 2 core 4GB Win8.1 machine while the 5400rpm HDD swapped for its life. And another 20 minutes to make her Gmail account accessible again without her remembering the password and not having a recovery mail set.
You know.. Time is my most precious resource. And just because someone doesn't care about how long a laptop needs to start a webbrowser because he/she can do the dishes in the meantime and therefore don't wants to buy new hardware doesn't mean that I feel the same while fixing other peoples problems.
So..to all customers of FamilyAdmin Inc. who might read this:

I had to collect surveillance videos from various of private houses and businesses a lot recently.
I came across a variety of NVRs many of which were a challenge for my nerves and mental health.
Example 1:
Exporting a 15 minute sequence of 2 cameras. After 1.5 hrs the status display switched from 0% to 1%.
Example 2:
This specific NVR allowed only to set a starting time for the export. The end time was chosen _randomly_ by the NVR itself. Sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 1 hour after the start time. The 6 hour span which should be exported was done for 3 cameras in ~15-20 chunks each.
I don't know what the developers of such systems were up to ... but while doing the video exports I had thoughts about flogging them in public.

I'm tinkering with #nextcloud in my #homelab a bit.
Just tried to get AppAPI running with Docker Socket Proxy.
I can register the daemon but the test deploy fails in the INIT step because I'm using self-signed certificates with my NC install (see attached pic of the log).
Is there a work-around for this (except allowing HTTP connections)?

Hier liegt wohl ein Missverständnis vor. Bahnhöfe haben gar nicht für Menschen zu funktionieren. Schon gar nicht reibungsfrei. Wie sollen die Reisenden denn sonst die Werbung ansehen, wenn sie sofort mit nem Zug verschwinden?

The last few days I was working on a case that made me thinking.
Its about a 15yr old boy who was victim to bullying at school. He came up with the story that his bully accesses his (and his parents) devices (phones, laptops). Changing hostnames, in-/uninstalling apps, sending text messages from one device to the other and the like. Finally there was a death-threat in a text file on the laptop.
My job was to prove or disprove the accusations.
Of course all this was made up and not a single trace on the devices supported his claims. Quiet the opposite. It was easy to prove, he staged all himself.
Unfortunately his parents are extreme no-tech people and believed their son every word how unlikely and not-technically-possilble his claims even were. But that's another story.
But... what a hell must he have lived in to stage such a story.
And if your kid comes up with some outrageous story ... there might be something behind, you should ask questions about.

BTW: The boy changed the school in the meantime.. and like magic.. no more "hacker" harassing him.

As I read the step you mentioned this is for adding TLS to the DSP container, isn't it?
I forgot to mention, my NC doesn't run as docker container. It's installed right on my Debian server.
My NC uses a self signed certificate which bugs out the DSP container as it tries to connect to my NC.
So I need a way to tell the DSP container to ignore this self-signed certificate and just go ahead.
TIL:
If you have your Samsung T7 Touch SSD encrypted with a password (and maybe a fingerprint) ..and you want to remove the encryption (or delete/change password/fingerprint).... Your device (MS Win) has to be connected to the internet. Otherwise the neccessary software just hangs after unlocking the SSD.
WTAF Samsung. For real.
This lead me to two questions:

What are the odds that passwords and fingerprints are casually transfered to some Samsung service? (Rhetorical question. No answers expected)
