@tehstu@hachyderm.io @BigHeadMode@social.linux.pizza same. I never have WiFi on. The firmware application seemed to work but afterwards, nothing was different. I suppose I'll try again with WiFi enabled before applying the firmware!

@StryderNotavi@aus.social @PeterLG@theblower.au @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe great read. I found the prose really good and it baffles me that his style could be critiqued as robotic. Made me want to find one of those "wow words" books he mentions to train myself (also non-native speaker).

@grepe@ieji.de wow, I've heard some disturbing stories but that's a new low!

@soph@grrl.me I'm not an expert at all when it comes to licenses but I think that if I was to release code that was heavily vibe coded, I would feel compelled to release it under public domain.

@freakonometrics the main point is an obvious truth to me but the data throws me off. What on earth is "legislated paid parental leave" that reaches nearly 200 weeks (4 years) in the Slovak republic and between 50 and 100 weeks in France ? Is this a typo where weeks should be days? If so the data is very wrong , as in 2024 Spain was giving 16 weeks to both father and mother. Fathers have received much longer leave in Spain than in France (and most western EU countries) for several years now.

@s4mmy @jhaand @DartzIRL @vowe please reassure me: this applies to evening beers only, right? I mean, lunch beer is still allowed between 10.30am and 3pm ?

@libreleah@mas.to @dee@grafana.social i like the idea of rotating ports every week. If I could tell my isp-provided router to do this via some scripted interaction I could automate it and message the new port to myself.

@vikxin @tante @atax1a i wanted to note the same sentiment, great analogy. I'll make sure to read that post!

@olivetree fair! Das Thema Zugriff auf Data ist natürlich mit Verschlüsselung kein Problem, aber politisch macht das Sinn. Falls du was gutes und eu-made findest, sag Bescheid!

@billgoats I tried it on my 3g but it didn't work. Didn't brick it either. Just did nothing. 🤷‍♂️

@saraislet@infosec.exchange I'd argue that absolute productivity isnt measurable, but relative productivity can be under the right circumstances. A stable product team operating with mature kanban processes should be able to experiment with genai and measure a statistically significant change on their throughput - if there is such a change indeed. But that means the introduction of genai and the measurement come from within, not from above.

@saraislet@infosec.exchange I would have imagined the productivity boost to be closer to infinity. The base performance was probably quite good given the circumstances!

@saraislet@infosec.exchange I had assumed a baseline of 0 in complete darkness, no matter "zero what" :D but it's true it's an oversimplification!

@Captain_Jack_Sparrow@mastodon.world @mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io I did want to cynically respond to "we can't stop their ship from docking" with "but you can bomb them" 😉 Of course that might have a few consequences... Just silly thoughts, the post was spot on. I'm always annoyed that China is a bit too concentration-camp-friendly itself, I'd love to see china become more democratic and human in my lifetime, I'd then be proud to support a shift in global power, it would then make a lot of sense.

@BigHeadMode@social.linux.pizza ah ok. It's been registered long enough to buy alcohol (well maybe not in the US 🤭). Firmware is 3.4.2. I haven't seen mentions of unhackable versions for the 3g, but maybe I missed something? Oh well. 🤷‍♂️
