Key findings:
45% of all AI answers had at least one significant issue.
31% of responses showed serious sourcing problems – missing, misleading, or incorrect attributions.
20% contained major accuracy issues, including hallucinated details and outdated information.
Gemini performed worst with significant issues in 76% of responses, more than double the other assistants, largely due to its poor sourcing performance.

@cstross@wandering.shop @LillyHerself@mastodon.social @jbenjamint@mastodon.scot it adds a bit more friction to the act of taking a screenshot for dog piling use, as you have to maintain unblocked sock accounts to take the shot with.

@fergycool@mastodon.social what Mac are you running it on? From what I recall (I was working on QuickTime Video capture at the time) the FireWire DMA was tricky to get right and the autofocus noise supression would leave sync gaps in the audio.

@randahl you should plot that last stacked bar half as wide and twice as high if it represents 6 months rather than 12

@CatherineFlick@mastodon.me.uk this reminds me of danah boyd's thesis on teen publics ~15 years ago “their idea of public is not about all people across all space and all time. They want publics of peers, not publics where creeps and parents lurk.” This is part of the original twitter illusion - that you were talking to the people who you follow, not those who follow you, and not the firehose feed. That created a good normative sense for the most part, but the illusion broke with search and reply notifications

@strypey @siderea @paninid @mastodonmigration Twitter had some tools to mitigate this. Originally this was the "only show replies from verified people" aimed squarely at the famous posters to ignore the masses. That's become useless as Ticks on twitter are now parasites. However there are "mute thread", "leave thread" and "limit replies" affordances on twitter that do address this problem of scale of replies that Mastodon doesn't have. Hope that helps.

@ids1024@fosstodon.org @thephd@pony.social I'm getting flashbacks to all the Endian.h stuff we had in QuickTime to deal with all the different processor architectures we compiled to. Which is pretty much how Apple can swap CPU options to this day.

Official exit poll:
Lab 410 Con 131 LD 61 Reform 13 SNP 10 Other 25
Boring
Fun version:
Lab 420 Con 69 LD 69
Then we can have a Labour split so it's
Lab 345 Woke Labour 75 Con 69 LD 69
Woke Labour as official opposition with all committee and PMQ privileges

@strypey @siderea @paninid @mastodonmigration Bluesky doesn't yet have the scale where this is a problem. Threads I don't use so can't comment, but I expect they'll have some tooling based on Instagram. Mastodon didn't have this problem of scale and fame initially, and the tooling hasn't caught up yet. It's about where twitter was in 2014, when I wrote this https://www.kevinmarks.com/twitterhatespeech

@thephd@pony.social @ids1024@fosstodon.org the other half of this was the QuickTime QA team who built and ran a really deep set of tests across multiple CPU architectures for every commit to be sure that you had used them correctly. That's a bit harder to put into a language standard.

@feditips@mstdn.social for android use the web app and accept the save to desktop prompt. It works great. I can't vouch for iOS because Apple lags on web standards.

@leaverou@front-end.social previously when looking at tags I have found Rosch's prototype theory better than strict hierarchies - the latter has historically been about shelving convenience when trying to locate a single copy. The prototypes are more about "what kind of thing does this resemble?" - experts in a topic will recognise more kinds of things than the general reader. Using tags more loosely can help communicate these different prototypes and help them search elsewhere too.

@VeryBadLlama@mas.to The universe winds down. That's how it's made. But memory is everything to lose; Although some of the colors have to fade, Do not believe you'll get the chance to choose. @Danhon@mastodon.cloud you missed the rel=me verification built into mastodon - if you link the author's byline page on the website to the mastodon page and back, you get a green tick ✅ in the mastodon profile. This can also verify other non-mastodon urls.
