@lokjo@mapstodon.space I really enjoy the current solution where there's a "show me on the map" button that asks for permission only if you activate it. The extra button press isn't that big of a deal when it saves a button press to deny location data for people who don't need it.

@Lunaphied@provably.online I remember finding a brief mention hidden somewhere on the website that explicitly says you need a *photo* chipkaart a few years back, so I never tried using my non-photo one. @moonlight_seashell@equestria.social
Hackable in 2 minutes if:
- you have physical access
- and you have already unlocked the phone
- and it is rooted

Which is just asking for it at this point.

Yeah, it could be better, it could encrypt the data using some secret storage API, it could use some sort of cryptographic unlock. But this guy is making a mountain out of a molehill on the first release of a reference implementation and gloating about it on social media instead of being constructive and contributing a patch.

@TechSupport@equestria.social I'm gonna buy you whatever drink you would like if we ever meet. The first packet that doesn't return is supposed to be ~4200 bytes large! It does seem to be a fragmentation issue. And it's possible that Azure's load balancer or proxy or something really likes to send large packets that break the connection, which would explain the subnet specificity.

Been troubleshooting the weirdest connectivity issue at home. My current setup is a GPON router provided by my ISP with PPPoE Passthrough enabled. Then I have a Mikrotik router plugged into that which connects to PPPoE and receives an IPv6 prefix to spread via SLAAC. It all works perfectly fine... Except when I try to connect to a specific Microsoft-controlled subnet (2620:1ec::/36) via HTTPS a few packets go missing on the way to me that causes the connection to hang and eventually time out. I've sniffed the connection at every part of the chain I could. On the router itself, by inserting a switch with traffic mirroring enabled between the Mikrotik and ISP router, and it seems that some packets just don't arrive. It seems to specifically be https that is affected, and only when connecting to that specific subnet. And for extra fun, if I just plug into the ISP router (which has a separate prefix delegated because I can't switch it to plain bridge mode) everything works fine.

@TechSupport@equestria.social That is a really really good idea! I should look into it. Though I'm not sure if it explains why this only happens when talking to a specific subnet.

@jbcrawford@hachyderm.io This is a proper puzzle!

I think it's supposed to say

  • Clean lint filter in the machine
  • Put your clothes in, close the door
  • Press one of the buttons marked in white to select your program (there are two models of washers, one is missing the top right button)
  • No need to pay / Insert coins / insert banknotes / pay via paypass
  • Press the bottom right button to start (again, the machine might be missing the top right button)

Though I don't take responsibility for any fires caused, limbs lost, or monetary damage incurred for following this interpretation, and I hope the designer had a similar disclaimer written into their contract. :3

eupol, age verification
@interru@hooves.social I agree on the ideological level, but unfortunately age verification is something both corporations and governments see as needed. And to be fair, they do identify a valid symptom of curious kids with overworked (or absent) parents getting in harm's way. If you ask me, having this system *as an option* is an improvement over current private sector solutions that all involve giving way too much information to some random corp halfway across the globe. Though long term I'd obviously rather see we work towards empowering guardians instead, with some fallback for those that do not have one. Of course I'm open to having my mind changed on this c:

@interru Parenting is hard, I hope we can agree on this. My parents were on top of their game for the most part, but they still couldn't 100% deal with everything. They taught me and my brother about these potential harms, they did everything in their power to keep us safe while not being helicopters. We still ended up in places where we weren't welcome. And would you rather have to make every place child friendly, or give owners tools to say "sorry, no kids allowed here". Because who should take the blame if a kid gets into a situation where they get hurt? The kid who didn't know better? The parent who tried their best? Or the members of the place who thought they were dealing with an adult? A monotonically increasing numeric value doesn't quite map to what we might call maturity, but that just means we need a better signal for maturity. And once we have that, this same system can be updated alongside to let others safely query that signal.

@TechSupport@equestria.social Adding a mangle rule that clamps MSS seems to have fixed it. For some reason linux sends higher than advisable MSS to some hosts and I guess pmtud is getting swallowed from that subnet so it can't correct itself?
