@upmultimedia@mastodon.gamedev.place IMDB has been complete shit for a long time now. The redesign is awful and its stupidly heavy. I don't know about you guys who have a computer made in the last 15 years, but me with my ancient piece of shit really struggle to do anything with IMDB. Also, them not doing anything about all the review brigading that insane fans have done is a turn off as well. These days I use wikipedia if I want to learn more about a film. Personally I don't really care about the user reviews but I'm sure theres other, better places to find those.

That's nothing compared to the billions who don't give a shit :D Maybe its just my pessimism blinding me, I dunno. Out of curiosity I had a look at firefox add-on numbers. 10 million have installed ublock, less than 2 have installed privacy badger... I know those numbers don't really mean much but I see those as the minimum of what one should have. Those numbers should have a zero or two more

I changed browser to Librewolf recently, I guess I forgot some things. But, I think I'll do what you said, look into how useful privacybadger is, on top of everything else I have on.

I recently downloaded the Freetube app, because I changed from Ubuntu to Debian, youtube didn't let me sign in to my account without a phone number. So I decided that I don't need to sign in then. Luckily, Freetube lets me make subscription lists without having a account. As a bonus it doesn't send info to google. So thanks google for being such a nosy bitch and obsessed with my phone number!<3

@astro_jcm@mastodon.online Earlier today I was discussing this issue and instead of grabbing a book to read, I counted all the books I already have, that I want to read. 167 ebooks and 92 physical books, 48 audiobooks... After those results I decided its best not to count the books on the wish list. Anyway, now I'm having some mild panic and anxiety about reading all of that.

Like have a big warning button that requires you to put a check mark on a box that says "I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING AND REALIZE I MIGHT MESS UP MY DEVICE IF I DON'T" and then let people do what they want with the thing they paid hundreds of €'s for. I know we currently have that, sort of, but how long until we need to start doing more drastic measures to get full access to things we own.

@landelare @seanking @IzzyOnDroid I'd be willing to bet that most of the problems come not from non-Play Store sources but from apps that are registered "legitimately" on Play Store, downloaded from Play Store, maybe even stamped with the "ok" from Play Protect. This developer/app registration is going to do absolutely nothing to help with that. And thats rather obvious. Which makes it even more infuriating that the average user is so dumb these days, that they'll just take Googles word for it. I wonder if life is too easy these days. You just press a button and whatever you want appears/happens. And that has made everyone dumb as a boot.

@ddens @nickofnz Well obviously. For Finland it should be mostly a mix of wind, hydro and nuclear but shouldn't forget solar either, during the summer that would be excellent. And its not like the whole country is in darkness during the winter, panels would work fine in the most populated areas for 5-6 hours per day, even during the darkest time of the year.

@MLE_online@social.afront.org close where I live, there's a monthly thing where a group of professionals help others to fix their broken things. Mostly electronics etc. The people who frequent there also help out others. Its pretty neat.

@bakkus Hmm. I got the glasses? theatre mask? to appear after clicking the "hide" button on the appearance menu, I guess its by default located on the right edge of the screen? Anyway, once the glasses? theatre mask? -menu was moved to the top, it still only gave me the options for text size and page width. I do have the Dark Reader add-on, so I solved the issue by just turning that on. But in case you want to tinker the website for others.. Might want to look into that :)

If I buy a device, I expect I can use it the way I want to, not having to keep up with the latest tech news about what decisions are made 12 000 kilometers away.

When I had better finances I didn't tend to eat expensively even then so I was well prepared for the current situation. Haven't had to go to the food bank lines yet, and probably won't go even if I should. There's other people who need it more than I do, families and sick people. I've gone without food for a few days many times before, I can manage lol.
