Oh look after an #Android software update Gemini is mysteriously turned on again after being disabled via every control I've ever been able to find.
Guess it's time to go hunting in the settings for more creepy shit to turn off.
I'm so glad I didn't just give Academia.edu my real email address. I think I just had to click buttons to avoid paying a surprise fee five screens in a row?
"They're not really food, just tasty snacks."
Well that would have been a nice picture of the landscape if the phone hadn't somehow slipped into the stupid 🤬 "portrait mode" that arbitrarily blurred half of it when it couldn't find a person.
What is the point of this mode? All it doesn't is put a fake blur on the supposed background just do that in post.
Also if you can't figure out what's meant to be the person don't blur anything!
The BBC is doing a piece on Passkeys. It says they're relying on a shared secret between your phone and the website.
And there I was thinking that the whole point of something using public key crypto to is that the secret you use to authenticate isn't shared with the service you're trying to log in to.
