@fschaap@mastodon.social I moved my parents over to Linux a few years ago. No problems. All they ever really did was call up a web browser. That's pretty OS-independent. The things that differentiate Windows from Linux are lost on them, so might as well give them an OS that has no spyware.

@evacide@hachyderm.io I'm sick of their "you're in control of what data you share" line. No you're not. It's proprietary software. You have no idea what's going on under the hood. All they did was code up some graphics that show options as "off." It still sends everything.

@geerlingguy@mastodon.social AI slop feels like the new spam. Kind of like how in the early 2000's, spam was everywhere. Nobody wanted it, it still persisted, so we developed spam filters. Now we need AI filters... Yay..

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I think you hit the nail on the head. 2020 was when the pandemic lockdown stuff began. We were all stuck in our homes and the economy was stressed. That's probably why there was an emphasis on monetizing things you can do at home.

Just as 30-40 trillion cells all come together to create one human being, several billion people also can come together to create one "Earth-entity". Of course there are different kinds of cells: skin cells, blood cells, brain cells, etc. He loves the idea of considering himself a brain cell because the brain controls the body. He thinks he should do the "thinking" for us. He strives to answer non-arrogantly

@evacide Most journalists work for news outlets that are owned by corporations benefiting from Musk's and Trump's actions. They're intentionally telling their journalists to throw softballs.
