Soooo, one of the biggest investigations into pig slaughter for human consumption happened in Greece, it seems! If not the biggest one there (I'm starting to think if it's one of the biggest worldwide actually with how many places were investigated…). Didn't know this had happened! Absolutely incredible work by the investigators. The images and video (Haven't seen them all.) are truly devastating. Just goes to show no country is different in how they treat these innocent beings. They are seen as products and are treated as such. If you've seen how pigs are usually treated, this is no different. Yet there are still people claiming their country is different for some reason… The investigation were done by REthink ANIMALS ( https://rethinkanimals.gr You can translate that.) from March to May this year and they have an ongoing campaign which is called #thisisgyros (There's even a website for it! https://thisisgyros.gr Of course you can translate that, too.) and it has to do with the traditional Greek “food” gyros that usually has either pig or chicken flesh wrapped in a pita with potatoes, tomatoes and a sauce made with cow's milk, cucumber and garlic called “tzatziki.” The campaign seems to have launched this sort of picture sub-campaign, of activists posing with a slogan relating to gyros. These are my 2 favourite images so far from the campaign! (I obviously got permission from both to post them here.)❤️:vegan: #thisisgyros #Gyros #REthinkANIMALS #Greek #Activism #Activist #Activists #Vegan #Veganism #Campaign #Pigs #Slaughter #Blood #Violence #Abuse #Rights #AnimalRights #Pig #Pigs #Greece #Photograph #Photographs #Photography #Creative #Creativity #Speciesism #Speciesist #Investigation #Undercover #UndercoverInvestigation #Antispeciesism #Antispeciesist #Truth #Βίγκαν #Ελλάδα #Ελληνικά #Ακτιβισμός #Έρευνα #Βιγκανισμός #Σπισισμός #Ειδισμός #Γύρος #Ακτιβιστές #Καμπάνια #Σφαγή #Αίμα #Βία #Δικαιώματα #ΔικαιώματαΤωνΖώων #Ζώα #Χοιρινό #Γουρούνι #Γουρούνια #Αποκάλυψη #Αντισπισισμός #Αντιειδισμός #Αλήθεια

There is no radically transforming society without individuals radically transforming themselves. And while it's the simplest step to take, the biggest attitude shift is respecting the rights of non-human animals. Not you offering help, being jolly during difficult times, nothing like that. Just basic respect. And I would claim that believing society can be radically transformed is naive, just stop abusing beings for their sake. #Vegan #Veganism #Speciesism #Antispeciesism #Society #Antinatalism #BeVegan #GoVegan :vegan:

@nm@veganism.social there already seems to be a space if we're talking, “server” like Discord uses it. Do you mean homeserver? If so, then I don't think one exists and I would love if one existed!

@blogdiva@mastodon.social I think you're seeing ghost posts because your replies aren't making much sense to me. But to reply, because they want to? How am I supposed to know? Lots of reasons could be at play. I don't think it matters what someone calls themselves in such a case. I could call myself a Trump supporter. So? What about it? Anyone can call themselves whatever, that doesn't suddenly change the definition of words. Plants can't consent, though. Animals can consent in a broad sense, but a passed out human can't. A lion could maybe consent to things with other people who speak their language, but they can't give consent to humans. What people eat is a moral dilemma, we live in a society, everything a human does has externalities, you're not living in a vacuum.

@blogdiva@mastodon.social @webhat@infosec.exchange @Sfwmson@universeodon.com first sentence proves you don't know what veganism is yet are still trying to make a point with it (I think?). You can't be a vegan nazi, it makes no sense if we take veganism to be respecting the rights of non-human animals. Applying basic consistency would show there's something faulty going on. You can't discriminate against one minority and uphold another, that is inconsistent and undoes your supposed trying in the second case, thereby discriminating against them, too. This is seen in parallels between veganism and anti-racism and feminism (And…just basic logical thinking.).

@Sfwmson@universeodon.com that's the scientific consensus, if you or anyone else wants to consider them sentient, you're free to, that doesn't make animals not sentient.

@thebeeguy@mastodon.ie hellooo, I have a question for you since you know so much about bees. Are almonds or any other plants (Like you state in your website: https://worldbeesanctuary.org/the-commodification-of-bumble-bees/ ) used as food by humans more harmful (Towards bees.) to produce because of bee trafficking (So called “migratory beekeeping.”) compared to other crops (At least in the countries that use such a method, like America and Spain.)? Or is this something that's basically unavoidable? I knew about almonds, broccoli and cucumbers, but not every one. And is that something that happens worldwide or just in a few countries like America and Spain (Therefore buying for example German food would be a pretty good assurrance it didn't come with the abuse of bees, at least when it comes to bee trafficking.).

@blogdiva@mastodon.social no, I am talking about objective statements, outside of any space where they're abused. They can't consent to have themselves taken and abused, to be used as food, to experiment on them or to lock them up for others to look at them. Following a plant-based diet is a consequence of veganism, not veganism itself. Veganism is the respect of non-human animals' rights.

@Sfwmson@universeodon.com @webhat@infosec.exchange they can't consent to any part of their body being used. They are a being which deserves respect, not to be used for human desires. If your hair isn't enough, try asking a fellow human adult if you can use their hair when they don't have a use for it anymore. It's their wool and they've been selectively bred to produce more of it to be more profitable to humans. Stop objectifying other beings.

@Sfwmson@universeodon.com @blogdiva@mastodon.social @webhat@infosec.exchange I weren't replying to you but whatever. Living things can't consent. Beings can. A plant (For example.) is not sentient so talking about consent there is ridiculous. Could've been a good idea to remove the other mentions, but it's difficult for me to tell when to leave them up and when to remove them.
