Not a huge Ray Bradbury fan, but this story has haunted me since I first read it.

Well you know he can sell stock before he restarts the war and market crashes then buy stock at a cheaper price when the war starts again. Then market goes up again when war "ends". Rinse repeat.
No reason to ever stop cycling between pretending war is over and then that peace is over.
Being the president is like owning an infinite insider trading machine. Can't stop til he's had enough and he can't ever have enough.

🐚 Stone Seahorse — By Beach4Art in North Devon, UK 🇬🇧
Beach4Art, a family of four working on the North Devon coast, uses smooth pebbles sorted by color and size to build a seahorse on the sand. The tide handles the cleanup.

August 4 is International Owl Awareness so I am sharing my parliament! The delightful term for a group of owls is a parliament. I love the whimsical terms of venery for groups of animals and this is part of my ongoing series of linocut terms of venery prints. For my parliament of owls I made two columns of local owls. You can decide for yourself which are the loyal oppositions and which are the government in this parliament!

Don't you think that we ought to be terrified? 50 years sentence for sending an email about a protest? Isn't that terrifying? People's lives were destroyed during the red scare. Going into a US gulag is likely to destroy lives as well.

A tiny eight-seat ramen counter in an old Tokyo neighborhood has kept the same end-stool reserved for its resident cat, a stocky orange tabby called Tora, for the past five years. The owner posts a small hand-written sign in Japanese on the wall above the stool when the shop opens, and removes it only when Tora has settled. Tora climbs onto the stool when his bowl of broth is set down on the counter. He does not eat anything in it. He just watches the steam rise.
My USPS Express 1 day packages sent to NYC disappeared for weeks when they were inexplicably routed through Puerto Rico. Now I send through UPS for a lot more when I need next-day service.
Yup that is what the week was like. Wish we could filter it all out in real life.

Seems like the logical step after scrubbing the records is to draw attention to the fact that there are no records. That's the point of scrubbing them.

First lambs have arrived on Random Farm, a couple of days early but lively and healthy. From here it'll probably be nothing but lamb spam for the next few weeks so brace yourselves.

Stupid sap. If Carville tells you which way he thinks the wind is coming from, you should most certainly launch your kite in the opposite direction.

New: James Carville is attacking progressives and democratic socialists who won Democratic primaries, earning appearances on Fox News and Newsmax.
He hasn't mentioned: he was an advisor to a Democratic lobbying and PR firm paid over half a million dollars by the crypto industry.
