RE: @Peter_Link@expressional.social

We need more discussion of this and not knee-jerks reactions from the Zionism lobby and various timid Australian governments.

@Doreen32128 the quality of the two judgments is very different, though. The US bloke is being horrible, the Iranian bloke is being sincere.

Replying to
@iain_bright@mastodon.green @georgepenney@sunny.garden my impression is that THOSE roundabouts disappeared about 25 years ago when a) people realised they were really dangerous in the presence of older bullying kids and b) there was an opportunity for an enterprising plastics manufacturer to dominate the commerce of playground equipment.

@saposcat@indieauthors.social isn't it funny that there is genuine ambiguity about the tense of "read" but we never think of confusing it with "red". Whereas there is genuine confusion about lead/led.

@dougmerritt@mathstodon.xyz @alzimon@mastodon.nl @johncarlosbaez@mathstodon.xyz I was brought up in the UK to know that draining bathwater rotates widdershins in the northam hemisphere and antiwiddershins in the southern. I have never tested to see whether it rotates in the same direction.

@RadicalAnthro very sad for presumably a student who should have been taught better and a professor who should have known better. But also for the person so egregiously treated.

Replying to
@plyspomitox@chaos.social that is a wonderful thing to say. I wonder whether there is a literature on the use of the expression "marketplace..." and how it relates to the rise of capitalism (or is it a descent?)

@sundogplanets @d_rift This is precisely what I am afraid of. I think that geoengineering is a terrifying prospect, given what we have achieved unintentionally. But to do something which might knowingly engineer the atmosphere in this way but without alerting people to that possibility is absolutely frightening. The doge is quite capable of doing it, but he might be intending it but concealing it from us. If you are as aware of the prospect as you suggest you are the person who should shout it

@sundogplanets I have been wondering whether the obscene amounts of space debris the doge is putting into space might have an impact on climate. He has not said anything about geoengineering (has he) but it might have an impact.
