I really enjoyed @frankashwood@flipping.rocks ’s soil ecology talk at The Royal Institution on Monday. Perfect amount of springtail and mite photos!
It was so lovely to meet you! :millipede: 🪱

Little aubergine harvest. It didn’t seem to be growing any bigger so I decided to pick it :blobcat:
Weevil eye contact
It’s raining again!
Mulan seems very happy today, I think she likes the novelty of the rain. She even got brave enough to follow me into the garden when I was standing in the rain :blobpats: :blobcat:

Does anyone know who this fly is? My closest guess is it’s a type of robber fly but I’m not sure, I’ve only seen the grey ones before
Edit: I’m pretty sure this is actually a male hawthorn fly or Bibio marci
I did think robber fly didn’t seem quite right

I looked around a bit more and I’m fairly confident now that this is a male Hawthorne fly, Bibio marci
