Anyone else on #Linux experiencing total system hangs when #VSCode is open? I'm pretty sure it's Code causing these, but it could be Firefox too. Can't see logs because the system bogs down to a complete halt, can't even switch to a tty. Mouse changes position every now and then, so something's still running

💡 Think you're getting the most out of #VSCode for #PowerShell?

@posh.guru@bsky.brid.gy showcases the latest improvements, from rename support and terminal IntelliSense to Spectre, Zed integration, and remote debugging with VS Code tunnels.

been using #Zed instead of #Cursor/ #VSCode for the past weeks and honestly the superb speed is such a great quality of life improvement. every click is instant, not some electron delay 🚀 (still using Cursor alongside Pi for editing, but mostly in their agent view or via ACP)

Your Git commits might be lying to you. VS Code is automatically adding 'Co-Authored-by Copilot' to commits, even when the AI wasn't actively used. This isn't just a bug; it's a fundamental breach of trust, compromising the immutable audit trail of your work and raising serious legal questions about copyright and GPL compliance. The article dives into the technical flaw and the profound implications for… https://www.tpp.blog/t1cx9cm #AI #vscode #githubcopilot 🤖 This post was AI-generated.

#codex #openai #vscode

Today I was greeted with the following error in #vscode: Error: Could not register service worker: InvalidStateError: Failed to register a ServiceWorker: The document is in an invalid state.. Turned out there were defunct code processes running causing this. Killed 'em all and everything worked again.

@divyaranjan@mathstodon.xyz @marekfort@mastodon.online I will make a comparison. Editor like Atom, VSCode and Zed are a Toyota. Very nice car indeed. But Emacs is a battle tank or Apache helicopter or even an alien mother ship. People will find it much easier to drive a Toyota. But people need lot of practice to drive a battle tank. #Emacs #Atom #VSCode #Zed Yes, I agree with you that we can use other editor suitable for our situation'

@divyaranjan@mathstodon.xyz @marekfort@mastodon.online @fsf@hostux.social @conservancy@social.sfconservancy.org Emacs is such a wonderful editor. But it has a huge advantage and a problem at the same time. It is highly efficient and highly intuitive for those proficient with it. But need time to practice and highly UNintuitive for those starting to use Emacs. Many people need editor which can be used fast. #Emacs #Zed #VSCode

If you're looking for an alternative to #VSCode for reasonably straight-forward workflows, you might find #Kate a capable option. It even looks an behaves a lot like vscode these days. It features highlighting and completion and built-in git - which personally I like more than vscode. It also has a built-in terminal. It's not as polished, and there are no 3rd party extensions, but if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles and prefer #free and #opensource software - or you detest #microsoft - it might work for ya!
