I've had pinball leg mounted drink holders since early 2000s, although those were pretty crude DIYs back when consumer 3D printing wasn't a thing. My very first take was just a piece of steel bent into a shape on L with holes for the leg bolts and then a ring big enough for a soda bottle welded onto that. As my collection grew, somewhere in early 2010s the Pingulp was released. Not that it was an unique idea even then, but it was a good product. I own around 30 of those. At that point I had migrated from energy drinks to coffee and got used to having my coffee mug there. Over the years the product got revised, the version 2.0 no longer fit the mug perfectly and by the 3.0 it was useless to me. I had made my own variant when learning OpenSCAD back in the days, but saw no point in 3D printing something that was cheap and readily available. Until now. So here's my version resurrected and redone with #freecad. It's intended to be cheap, customizable via color painting in slicers and easy to print. After some prototypes I think I have a model that works in arcade use as well. If you need one, here's the model: https://www.printables.com/model/1841594-pinball-drink-holder-fits-cans-bottles-and-coffee #pinball #3dprinting

After the fun at Base Arcade's popup arcade, we went to a Boundary Taproom for some brewskies and more pinball, because there's no such thing as too much pinball. I finally got to play Stern's Pokemon. The quick first impression was that the playfield was rather simple and the graphics pretty plain. But then I got to grind it and damn, it's actually one of the better releases for a while. I can instantly see the playfield simplicity as a huge bonus for the new audience the theme is bound to draw in, but at the same time for a pro player the ruleset was pretty interesting and especially the ramp shots felt really satisfying. I really enjoyed making pints magically go empty and putting some games on this thing. They also had the new Xmen, which I may also have to check out later. #pinball #pokèmon

Pinball fans, I'm genuinely excited that one of my favorite games Cirqus Voltaire is being reimagined and brought to modern hardware by American Pinball! Unlike the remake of Tales of the Arabian Nights, which I felt lost the essence of the magnificent original, this one seems to only elevate what came before. And this classic edition seems to be true to the original with reasonable, targeted, improvements. https://www.pinballnews.com/site/2026/08/27/cirqus-voltaire-reimagined/ #Pinball #CirqusVoltaire #AmericanPinball

I'm investigating my Bally Star Trek's sound board. It lost sound some time ago and I had hoped it's the typical solder cracks in the big Molex KK connector but nope. Looks like I have to do actual head scratching here. I hear a hum that changes depending what's on the displays, which is normal and tells me that at least the amp works and the speaker is connected. This one is going to at least get recapped before it goes back. #pinball #repair

As if I needed another #project I've been working on recreating the clock from FunHouse #pinball to use as a #Pebble #watch face. Starting with a vector illustration in #inkscape, then I'll head over to a raster editor to make sure everything looks clean and readable at the small size/resolution of the Pebble. I'm also planning on rendering Rudy's face with eyes/eyelids/mouth that can animate, a segment display for extra info, and perhaps speech bubbles that pop up his iconic lines.

Here's a video I made of this thing back in the days. It's in Finnish, but there's subtitles. Also very early 2 camera setup, something that we later reused when we streamed pinball! www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiKEuuE850Y #pinball

As I walked in, I couldn't believe my eyes! It was my old Continental Magic Game bingo pin! I brought this thing back from the dead years ago, which sure was an adventure with all of its security features and stuff in place. A shame to see it was no longer either functional, or the people running the place didn't want to poke the bear by having an active gambling machine on the floor. Anyway, good to see you, old friend. #pinball

We found ourselves at Lievestuore after the bitter disappointment of their amusement park's arcade. At this point we were closer to #Tampere than home, so we headed out to see how the Särkänniemi amusement park's new hobbyist run arcade fares. Now this was more like it. The old dolphinarium waiting area had been converted into one long lineup of pins and vids. The games were mostly 90s, but with some more modern ones and couple of classics in the mix. Everything ran with tokens, that were sold at the cafeteria. My only gripe was that the pins took 2 tokens each, with the base token price being at 1.5€, although the price went down if you bought them in bulk. The games were all relatively clean and obviously maintained, with very little issues in them, a lot better situation than with your average bar machine. #arcade #pinball #sarkanniemi #finland

Some hilights: Mousin' around was playable, but had like oversized slingshot rubbers. It was also in a very weirdly low angle, probably to compensate for the completely shot flipper mechs. Bugs Bunny had no mini playfield flipper at all. Ripley's Believe it Or Not was missing the other lower flippers. I don't know if I crashed the party mid-repairs, but the it was a sad thing to see. I would've loved me some Ripley's at least from that lineup. #arcade #pinball

Last Thursday we drove to Lievestuore, which is about 2 and a half hours drive from home. The Nokkakivi amusement park resides there and I've made a note about the "100 arcade machines" they've been advertising for as long as they have existed. I know the amusement park itself is more of a collection of old carnival-style rides, mostly for younger kids but the arcade got me curious. So we went there with the hopes of playing some pinball and maybe other arcade games and make a cool video of a proper, old days' arcade. I came back with this video. It's everything I shot of that place. I stepped in, was like "oooh, pins" and took a quick sweep before I went to play. After I was done and realized this was it, I was so damn disappointed I just wanted to walk. The "100 arcade games" apparently included non-functional ornaments over the walls. There were really maybe 20+ games total, most of them vids or claw machines. They had 7 pins, out of which 2 were on and all those 2 needed was a mercy shot at this point. #arcade #pinball #finland

NBA Fastbreak's right orbit diverter came off. The e-clip that holds it had gotten loose. Now, everyone said I'd have to pull the right ramp which is quite a chore on this thing. I however noticed that with the little metal ramp thing from the shooter lane removed, I could access the spot quite easily. Turned an hour's job into 10 minute job. Work smart etc. #pinball #pinrepair #repair
