Just ask!
I just had an awesome thing happen medical cost-wise. With my primary health system, I applied for financial assistance, because I fall into their extremely low income category.
I just got approved! They will cover 100% of my copays for medically necessary care within the system. This includes doctors, urgent care & ER, imaging, and surgeries.
The approval is for a year that can be possibly then renewed, and is going to save me easily over $1k that is just my expenses in the next 3 months alone! Very helpful for a tiny disability fixed income.

In preparation for the upcoming Halloween holiday, I started reading Cassandra Peterson (Elvira)'s autobiography Yours Cruelly, Elvira. I've only gotten through the prologue (I'm a very slow reader nowadays), but she is a very engaging writer!

My innate optimism has been thwarted by my city's public transportation.
There are two things this system does that I've not experienced with other transit systems, but in all other respects, it is actually transit rider-hostile and -antagonistic. It sure seems that the board does not understand standard public transportation standards, nor do they understand the needs of riders or even how to manage a system at all. Nor do they understand the disabled community.
And for the regional service, it's even worse, Going one direction, there is 1-2 hour service, which is reasonable for the ridership. But coming back, there is an over 7 hour lag where you are orphaned in the other city. I was holding out hope that this was going to be improved over time, but today I learned they're going to reduce regional service even further next January.
When I had to give up driving for medical reasons, I made sure there was public transportation available where I live. I was sure it could get me where I needed to go reasonably. Now I really wish I had held out to move to the other city, or to move back to the West Coast, where they build quality transit systems.

I had a good imaging test today. I was supposed to get the results back in 72 hours, but I received them after I had walked only a block from the hospital where I did it.
It didn't have the expected finding, but instead it found two others. One may be related to the gastroparesis stomach surgery I did in April. The other is a hyperactive gallbladder.
For both of these, I'm to have a surgery consult. Luckily I already have a relationship with a GI surgeon for my gastric stimulator, so we simply moved my appt up a month.
Apparently gallbladder removal is typical in this scenario, and possibly revision stomach valve surgery.
I'm glad we found some reason for the chest pains I've been having after eating for the last month or so!

Three good things:
-> I had my new tea (Desert Sage), and it was *so tasty*! Thank you @SunnJax@tech.lgbt for the local recommendation. I'm going to try the Blood Orange Smoothie blend you recommended today as well.
-> After weeks, I was able to do a full-apartment cleaning. Want to do it weekly, but often can't.
-> Have all the windows open in the apartment, and it's so nice having fresh air!

Three good things:
-> I am trying my best to not be as intense a person, especially here in the Fediverse. Don't want to drive people away. Not easy, but I *am* trying.
-> Recently gave my kitty Belle her regular pedicure. She almost enjoys them, even though she's upside down in the V of my lap.
-> I meet with my new GP/PCP this week, which I'm very hopeful will be a solid relationship. Also meeting with a new GI surgeon who will maintain my gastric stimulator for my gastroparesis.

Pinball fans, I'm genuinely excited that one of my favorite games Cirqus Voltaire is being reimagined and brought to modern hardware by American Pinball!
Unlike the remake of Tales of the Arabian Nights, which I felt lost the essence of the magnificent original, this one seems to only elevate what came before. And this classic edition seems to be true to the original with reasonable, targeted, improvements.

Dang, I'm so emotional right now. Someone IRL gets me.
With my new rockstar GI doctor, she had ordered two imaging to be done. I waited what I thought was an appropriate amount to schedule with Imaging, and then have done several follow ups.
But I realized I was being "too much" and apologized to their front desk. I said I was scared for the reason for the one imaging, and get in my head and try to do *something* to move it along. But I would do my best to be more zen to not push them away.
But instead of chiding me, they said:
Oh no, no, you are all good! We totally get it and want to make sure we are all on the same page!
Please don't ever hesitate to reach out. Have a great day!
I'm not crying, those are water droplets from the sky. 🥹

Three good things:
-> Very happy to be on my new instance, and for the kindness of so many people in taking a look at my new instance intro. It was nice to be able to clearly state my core values and principles.
-> Had a nice text chat with my auntie in Arizona. She and my sister are the only family I am really in contact with, and they both understand me with kindness.
-> It's much cooler here: 33C/91F, and will stay at similar temperatures through Saturday before ramping back up for a bit.

This is Acacia (pronounced A-ka-sha). She was a good kitty, but was only in my life for a few months.
She had a fascination that was dangerous to her and potentially to our home: she loved to chew on wires of all sorts, including speaker wires and electrical cords. I tried everything I could think of: hiding them, putting safe bitters on them, even wrapping them in aluminum foil.
On the last day, when I walked along the road, bringing her back to the shelter in her carrier, it nearly broke my heart. She had the biggest golden eyes she'd ever offered, and made the gentlest meows.
But I knew my place wasn't safe for her. I hope she found a good home.

Three good things:
-> Worked out complicated interconnections between optometry, ophthalmology, and dry eye care related to my Sjogren's disease and general eye care. Lots of confusion all around on this, so I'm glad to have a good roadmap now.
-> I finished watching the very cool iTV/britbox series Code of Silence featuring a Deaf actor solving a crime. Hope it continues for additional seasons!
-> The new commercial construction outside my apartment is now nearly done for the exteriors. I was afraid, based on how slow they were working on one building, that the development was going to be abandoned before it'd get occupied.

Three good things:
-> After watching the film We Are Pat yesterday on Kanopy (thank you local library!), I've arrived at further levels of understanding the breadth of my agenderness. It's more profound than even I expected, and I'd been building up to certain aspects for decades more subconsciously than I realized. This is a very good thing! 😊
-> I thought we were losing one direction of bus service by my home with an upcoming service change. Very gratefully, that is not the case; the service change sign was just poorly written.
-> On the bus today, the bus driver was playing music, as they do. What should fully play at great volume throughout the cabin but Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Relax. Imagine that, in a fairly conservative city! 😀

Three good things:
-> This month is my one month of taking hydroxychloroquine for my Sjogren's disease, and I did an annual retina specialist visit which went well! This is important because you can have retina issues within 5 years of taking the medication.
-> Bonus to above: After doing it last year and this, I won't have to redo the visual field test because I keep messing it up nonspecifically due to my dry eyes from Sjogren's.
-> After being away from home 9.5 hours, it was so wonderful to come home to my kitty Belle and to cuddle with her! 😻

-> My apartment community just announced the pool will be closing until next summer. So autumn is definitely creeping near!
-> In addition to britbox, I now also have Acorn TV to get more of the media content I enjoy so much.
-> Gave my kitty Belle a pedicure today.

Three good things:
-> Was able to fully clean my apartment for the first time in about a month. I'm hurting, but it is so nice to have a clean home.
-> I used new nail polish (a grey with mauve undertones) with cute sparkly gel on top. It's more muted than my first color, but it turned out rather nice.
-> We're looking at a week of cooler temperatures (in the 20'sC instead of 30'sC) with at least a bit of rain nearly every day.

Three good things:
-> I got my flu shot today along with my monthly vitamin B12 shot. They didn't have the COVID shot just yet, but I have it scheduled for mid-week next week (along with the Mpox for good measure).
-> Finally having seasonal or even slightly below temperatures. Also rain changes good today through next Thursday (a couple days forecasted for over 10mm!).
-> My kitty Belle is very affectionate today. 😻

Three good things:
-> My medication for inflammatory arthritis seems to be beginning to offer some relief! I tend to respond quickly (both positively and negatively) to meds, so this is right in line at 3 weeks.
-> Spent a leisurely day napping and watching telly with my kitty Belle.
-> Although the quantities have gone down quite a bit, we're still expecting some rain off and on for the next week.
