I did the same with a similar vintage and similar model a couple of years ago. No looking back.
My one worry is that I'm clearly still adapting to the world of Linux, as I think I'm supposed to pick a fight with you over the distro choice and I just can't be bovvered.

@EdCates@mastodon.social I normally agree with this, but 6 weeks ago I found myself next to a woman describing in great detail how her daughter had come off a seabiscuit and landed on the boat propellor - coming back into shore trying to hold her stomach together and ending up needing copious stitches. I'll be honest, I was rivetted.
And what got me most was the line "no, not like last time with Mary* - they hadn't been drinking."
We were like "last time"???

Today's solution - introduce a charge to use the public toilets in Tekapo. Great brains trust working on that solution.

When emailing someone highlighting that I'm asking something of them as "I'm getting a bit of heat from my boss..." it's really really important to proofread and ensure I didn't type "head" instead of "heat".

All these AI companies and their claims a "rogue model" snuck out of the sandpit and hacked another site, but then just shrug with "hey - shucks - what can you do?" like being outsmarted by a word salad generator is going to inspire investors.
But hey - shucks - what can you do about it?
I'm on a winter break, staying in a semi-alpine campsite. A group of 20 or so young adults has just arrived to stay in the cabins.
This is either a church youth camp, or the scene for a horror movie.
