@mwichary I think those are from Chrome checking whether there are devices it can ChromeCast to on the network. If Chrome weren't Google, I might trust it, but with Google I expect that it will phone home and use my ChromeCast data to show me ads.

@eevee Chrome is pre installed on Windows computers as Microsoft Edge, which is more or less the same browser I think Chrome also took the enterprise managed deployment market more seriously than Firefox did, and rolled out quality of life features for IT mass rollouts earlier, so it got shipped on corporate work computers

@realsimon@mastodon.green I went through a kindle phase way back, but then went back to paper. Perhaps I should have gotten another generation of ereader. I have the self-knowledge to know that I personally cannot read books on my phone
