It took me a week or so to track down a DVD drive in my house, and then a couple of minutes to read the data.

The music library on my phone got so weird with doubled-up songs and broken downloads and whatnot that I just switched off library sync on the phone, purged all the music app data, did a library update/resync from my mac, then turned sync back on on the phone (and set it to re-download everything.) Now it's working as expected.
